I'm a bit surprised they haven't stopped work on this. Both from the perspective of Alec taking advantage of the situation to not make the movie, and due to an honest concern for the people's health. The big thing right now is to avoid big groups of people, and I was under the impression that he did a fairly big group working on this.

They showed the trailer tonight. If you mouse over the progress bar on the bottom you can find in a few seconds the thumbnail preview section that doesn't have people live streaming in front of their webcam. Most of the trailer was (to my admittedly amateur fan eyes) well done phaser porn and people staring intently into the distance. I'm a fan of ships and ship combat specifically but I wish they hadn't focused on that. I need some time to digest it more but I think the trailer actually lowered my potential enthusiasm for a followup to the original as I preferred the documentary interview style of the original more.
