Battlestar Galactica getting rebooted (again) for NBS's streaming service

The first plan was to film 2-3 and release them and then film 4-5 and release them, but they have been so delayed who knows what will actually come from it.
If Cameron wants to do them all, he'd be smart to FILM them all first, as I think overall, they ain't going to be the mega blockbusters the studios expect. That way the studios HAVE to put them all out in some form.

Yeah I have never met a single person who has went 'I can't wait for the Avatar sequels!'.

Of course I don't know why we need another BSG so whatever.

I dunno... Avatar never really did it for me. Boiling it down to its lowest level, it's about an eeeevil megacorp (read: Weyland Yutani Redux) imposing its will on the innocent natives of an idyllic alien world. When I heard there were people actually contemplating suicide over the notion that Na'vi wasn't real, I was done with it. I can't, in good conscience, support something that ridiculous on both ends.

TBH: I’m looking forward to seeing more new RDA starships and vehicles, in the new Avatar sequels.

Most, of not, all of the RDA resources / appliances (Scorpion, and Samson Gunships, Valkyrie bomber, and RDA heavy/command gunship) were created by Stan Winston (who designed the T-800 endoskeleton, Aerial Hunter-Killer, and Centurion from The Terminator movie).

One of my favourite designers!

So hopefully we get to see some more of his work (perhaps unused) from Avatar and repurposed for 2 and 3?

Would be cool if we did... :)

He did a lot more big movies than just the Terminators and Avatar, he also worked on the Jurrasic Parks, Predator, Aliens, Edward Scissorhands, Batman Returns, Galaxy Quest, AI, and a ton more.

Yeah, I don't really remember anyone praising the story as anything original.
Hell, I really like it but even I'll admit it's basically just Dances with Wolves on an alien planet. For me rest of the movie is good enough to make up for the lack of originality in the story.

I always wondered what happened to any of the humans who didn't make it to a ship in time to get off New Caprica. Baltar never used the nuke so in theory you could have people in the hundreds who were left stranded. My guess is that they would simple keep on living at the settlement and things might even be easier for them with fewer supplies to be shared with a bigger number of people. You can then fish and grow veggies and fruit to live on. I am also guessing they even had guns to use for hunting any animals around for more food.

I think some people may have a problem with pattern recognition. I mean Cameron has already done "simple story with flashy effects movie becomes all time highest grossing record breaker" twice now. On top of that, he generally has a habit of pulling off the seemingly impossible (make a successful sequel to Ridley Scott's masterpiece of science fiction horror by turning it into a war movie? Check! Film almost an entire movie underwater in a half-built nuclear reactor that required the invention of specialised scuba equipment all the while pushing the boundaries of digital effects? Check!)
Whatever I may or may not think of Cameron as a person or a filmmaker, I'm not about to bet against that kind of track record. That'd be dumb.

This is a valid point. Then again, Ridley Scott also happens to be arguably one of the greatest filmmakers of our time - he makes Prometheus and all of a sudden everyone treats him like he's Uwe Boll. The moviegoing audience is a fickle lot...

There seemed to be a sense among the production company that they were making really deep insights about greed. “Unobtainium” and the on the nose analogy of searching for sinethujht that can’t be obtained.

It came off as thinly veiled Native American exoticism.

Exactly. Technologically, it was the absolute SOTA back then, no question. Cameron is famous for creating extreme innovations in his work that nobody had before attempted. He is a master of that niche kind of film-making who should never be understated. However, said innovation employed for that particular film effectively whitewashed an otherwise fairly pedestrian and clichéd plot.
