Dahj also had the "mom" AI telling her to go find Picard. So for some reason Dahj was programmed to seek out Picard.

Kor
Dahj was sent to Earth, Soji to the Artifact... Maddox probably didn't think it was necessary to implement the same "go find Picard" trigger in Soji if she wasn't sent anywhere near him.

EDIT: Ninja'd.

The Mom only said that after Dahj contacted him. Dahj was programmed to trust Picard, as an insurance once she activated. Soji did not have this programming. I think this may be a very important point as time goes on. I know the writers can be sloppy, but I think this plot point is intended.
Yes, the "mom" saying that was an expression of something that was embedded into her.

Kor

Riker doesn't remember that though. That's why him naming his son Thad, in reference to an episode he doesn't remember, is jarring. Unless Janeway told Riker about it when she got back.
Because to Riker it's family history not an episode of Voyager.

The actress playing Kestrel. It's the first time I've seen a 'child' character written really well in Trek, period; and I read up thread that the actress is only 13, but she did one hell of a job for her age here. To bad we probably won't see her again.
It's Kestra. We have posters here named Kestra and Kestrel. Once during the Holiday name changes they switched names and hilarity/chaos ensued.

I'd be shocked if they kill Riker (or Troi). That's just not something they can do without risking pissing off a LARGE chunk of the fanbase.

If they killed Troi, half the fanbase would be CELEBRATING (on TNG, just about every other line out of her mouth began with the words "I feel ... " or "I sense ... " ).

She had such a knack for stating the blindingly obvious ("Captain, he's angry" -- as if the steam coming out of the other person's ears wasn't enough of a warning sign :shifty: ).

I think she's been a much better character in First Contact, Voyager, and now Picard. I would be upset if they killed either Riker or Troi.

The makers of Star Trek can pick and choose whatever they want from the novels, its their show. There is no law that they have to be consistent with their soures

Yep, just like Disney was able to pick and choose what it wanted to keep from the old Star Wars EU and what went into the bin

She's a doctorate of cybernetics, not medicine. The MD's only in the noncanon novel, which is about as canon as say, Star Trek Countdown is now.

If Jurati's a medical doctor in Picard due to a non-canon novel, then the supernova that destroyed Romulus was Hobus due to a non canon comic. You can't pick and choose your noncanon.

Of course, making the novel noncanon doesn't make Jurati not an M.D.

And they're free to show Jurati's MD on the show at any time. They have not yet done so.

Hikaru didn't become canon until the name was said onscreen. Not before, despite being in noncanon works.

He was. Turns out everything we thought we learned in Nemesis was just an elaborate cover story. Mission accomplished.
I really wouldn't be surprised. The Zhat Vash let Shinzon take over because they knew he had it in for Picard and Data would get caught in the crossfire.

Holodeck safety protocols. There's usually a command level override to get around those. Why would a replicator be different?

I can't even re-enter a shopping entry on self-checkout in the real world without a supermarket clearance code from an employee. Again, this isn't Agnes' ship. If Rios were the one ordering the dangerous chemicals, I have no doubt he could do it as he's the captain.

But you're simply assuming that Rios wants the rest of the crew locked out of ship's systems. In an emergency that would be a bad thing.

Funny that such an educated, scientifically-inclined person as Jurati has never been off-planet before, in a universe where galactic travel is mundane routine.

I'm hoping they bring back the Executive Officer in Charge of Radishes and brutally murder him. Picard lost his family in a fire, Dahj was melted and exploded, Icheb tortured and shot in the heart, Hugh bled out from the neck, Maddox internal bleeding and suffocation. What is the most horrible way we can kill the Radish guy?
Put him in a salad with cucumbers and no dressing?

That was always an issue in Star Trek though. I always wondered how the auto-destruct sequence could be activated if all the command officers are dead (the irony being the threat that killed them is why you need to destroy the ship to begin with!)
Given her project and known skillset, it makes sense for Jurati to have a degree in some sort of life science, doesn't it?
Her project is in AI. That's not remotely connected to medicine. And even if she had an MD, she might not be licensed to practice. But there's no confirmation she has an MD on screen, and assuming her knowledge gives her an MD is like saying Alfred's medical care of Batman away from hospitals means he must have an MD.

Way too complicated a plot but that redeems Nemesis for me.
It might not be that complex. The Zhat Vash could have stopped Shinzon at any time. But then they said, "Well, he's going to go after Picard. Data is near Picard and might die in all of it. Let's let him become Praetor and see if that happens."
