Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Shatner just said that other day that he has no interesting in playing James Kirk again. But I have a feeling Patrick Stewart probably would have said the same thing before Picard.

He did. Repeatedly. Because it was the way he felt. He even said "no" when they approached him with their first draft for PIC. What won him over was the SECOND draft, one they altered by including some of his suggestions about the first draft.

That being said... I wouldn't put too much weight on Shatner's "not interested" statements. If the right people with the right script come along, anything is possible. ;)

IF they did, how did the Borg get all the way to the Delta Quadrant?
As far as we know the Borg originated there.
(I don't believe that the Writers of PICARD are going to retcon that)

I think it's more likely that the Romulans were just the first to encounter the Borg on the opposite side of their Empire from the Federation.
(which supposedly adjoins that edge of the Delta Quadrant)
They then tried to contrive a way to control them to their advantage which massively backfired.

That is why they had not been interacting with any Star Fleet ships for so long before TNG.

Shatner's spent many years itching to play Kirk again and being turned away.

I imagine there's a certain amount of hurt pride.

Patrick Stewart Has Always Been an Activist. That's Why Star Trek: Picard Is a Bold Political Statement.

I don't agree with everything he says or all his political views but I love this quote because I believe it too:

"I don't feel despair. I've always been an optimist about the world, and even when things have not been good, when I’ve felt we’re making wrong choices, I have a profound belief that humanity is essentially a responsible and caring species, and that time will pass, and mistakes will be recognized and corrected, and we shall live in a better world."
