I haven't watched Star Wars. I can't be expected to understand jokes about things I don't know.

Since when is it a crime not to watch Star Wars when you like Star Trek?

What bozo would build a robot so awkward?

Hmmm... to spoil or not to spoil? Probably better not to.

I guess I am too attached to the idea that a robot would have to be a marvel of mechanic achievement.

I think the concept of having robots, or droids as they're called in the Star Wars universe, with personalities is a marvel of achievement in its own right.

So you can make fun of me but I can't talk back without being threatened of exclusion. Is that it?

Calm down. No one's making fun of you. I didn't know until right then that you’d never seen Star Wars. People can't be expected to know if a poster hasn't seen a movie that's been part of the cultural zeitgeist for four decades. Absolutely, there are people out there who haven't but particularly on a sci-fi board, the chance that one would run into someone who hasn't is fairly slim. Still, you have not. Knowing that, I will drop it here.

Besides, this is the Picard forum. Should you get a chance, watch the original movies and we'd love to have your thoughts in the Star Wars forum.

Well, watching the Star Wars is still on my to-do list. I wonder why I keep putting it off. I think I am bothered by (c3po). What bozo would build a robot so awkward? I guess I am too attached to the idea that a robot would have to be a marvel of mechanic achievement.
3PO is supposed to be inoffensive for multiple alien species. He is to be nonthreatening. He is awkward because the movies pretty much are not what he was built for.

Who said it was a crime? O_o

Yes, I am probably the only guy who's seen everything Star Trek ( the non-fanfic kind at least) and nothing Star Wars. But I plan to remedy that sooner or later. I just need to talk myself into it.:D

Just watch the original three. One, they are groundbreaking in terms of cinema. Two, its a lot of fun. Three you might be surprised. :)

Physician...

So she an MD and a doctor in cybernetics!! That's quite an achievement given that even today an MD has to study nine years (post Highschool) and a Ph.D. too, given the two to four or even five years necessary for their thesis. She must be a genius.

I'd say that there's a high probability that the top expert on any subject in the Federation is a genius.

It's a TV show, stranger things have happened. They aren't beholded to the 21st Century time frame for education. She very well might be a genius or people are just supersmart in the future. The novel has her an MD who switched to. cybernetics after meeting Maddox. We've no idea how old she is. The actress is in her thirties but the character might be older. She was working with Maddox on syths 14+ years prior, we can assume it wasn't as a teenager.

We are creatures of duty and watching Star Wars so we may ridicule it to prove our superiority as nerds and geeks is a prime one. You are reduced two steps in rank! :rommie:

There needs to be another series spin-off … "Starfleet Rangers" with 7 of 9 in command and Hugh chief science officer.
Let's make it characters from each series. Hugh, 7 of 9, and how about Garek, Lorca from the Prime Universe, agent Daniels and Admiral Sulu?

Since 1994 or 95 I believe.

MD/PhDs are not that uncommon. MDs require no thesis, or a very small one, and are equivalent to master's degrees. There are hundreds of MD/PhDs out there in our time.
