Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Paraphrasing my best Sisko impression from "Image in the Sand" when Captain Sisko insisted Ben Sisko tell him who Sarah Sisko was (read it with Avery Brooks' voice), "Damnit TrekBBS!!! I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HIS SALARY IS!!!!!"

This is actually an obsession board, it all makes a lot more sense to me now.

He is obsessed with getting an answer to a pointless question and you are all obsessed with telling him to go fly a kite.

Just ignore the question if it bothers you, if that isn't enough then ignore him as well.

Considering this show is about helping Romulan refugees as a metaphor, I would hope that some of the massive profits of this show are going to some kind of refugee charity or something. I mean, otherwise it's kind of jarring to see the show taking advantage of their situation for their script, have Picard fight for the rights of fantasy refugees, and then none of the profit of all that goes to actual refugees...

Just no...the reset button was used enough in Berman Era Trek and got tiresome even when it was actually a good idea. Let this series be in one timeline and the events in Episode #1 have a lasting impact on the events in the final episode of the show and be remembered by the characters, all of whom have completed their story arcs for this series.

I quite like it, sort of indicating that Star Trek Picard is a direct continuation of "All Good Things", not just a sequel to TNG.

The whole chroniton line did make me wonder but it could just be down to Soji scanning her belongings.

I do expect to see Q at some point, hard to have a show about Picard without him turning up sooner or later.

The Federation missed out on a huge opportunity to bring the Romulans in from the cold, which is just one of the many reason why someone else would want to stop it, it must also be said that having the Romulans become closer would also cause a political shitstorm as some of the other Federation members have long memories.

Doesn't mean its going to happen though but if it does the mods are going to be very busy indeed, this is an obsession board after all.

To be honest I will not be surprised if Discovery ends up getting a colossal reset at the end as well.

Not quite the same, but I'm regularly getting a commercial with Stewart soliciting contributions for just such a charity.

This makes me ridiculously happy! Thank you @antinoos !

Could it imply that he will be more important as the shows continues.

Give Picard the Commander in Chief Starfleet position
Raffi gets the Chief of Starfleet Security position
Elnor becomes the first Romulan in Starfleet, its going to happen sooner or later.

All of that seems very unlikely. The show isn't about Starfleet. Patrick probably wouldn't do it if it became that.

That is just one option if they don't kill off the character.

At the end of the day if Picard wants Starfleet to change so badly then he should be willing to roll his sleeves up rather than expecting others to do it, his age will of course limit him but the Commander in Chief Starfleet position can be as hands on or as hands off as he wants.

Plus he would be in a position to restore Raffi's career and bring Elnor and Soji in to Starfleet if he wants.

No one will dare argue with him.

Assuming that is the direction they intend to go in of course.

Not the first character in Star Trek to have 'Star' in their name, from Memory-Alpha:
Sato's given name of Hoshi means "star" in Japanese, a fact which is likely not coincidental. Her translated name appears in katakana in the Japanese dubs of the series. "Sato" (also written Satou) is the most common of Japanese surnames and usually written with characters meaning help/assistant and wisteria. However, the dropping of the "u" may be intentional – "sato" means home/village, so she's "at home in the stars."
