Star Trek Picard is not Star Trek

Seems like a good spot to reiterate my theory of the Zhat Vash being from the MU. Narek and sis arn't Romulan-levels of perv. Theyre MU-levels of perv.

And 'Game of Thrones' level perv too. The siblings behave like space-age Cersei and Jaime Lannister to me.

Plus if Westeros ever made it to the space age, I imagine its politics would've looked like the Terran Empire, with people killing each other to get promoted into higher positions....

I don't really think they do. It really seems like one-sided mind games on Narissa's part. She's invading her brother's personal space and tortures him emotionally to make him uncomfortable and keep him under her control. It never came off as a consensual sexual relationship for me.

"The Emperor's New Cloak(DS9)" may well be the worst MU episode in the entire history of the franchise.

The Emperor's New Cloak was the most tasteless episode of Star Trek in the entire Berman era. Code of Honor was the most racist. This one was the most tasteless. I don't enjoy seeing mirror Kira casually murder Ferengis every MU episode because the writers think it's funny.

Crossover was excellent and Through The Looking Glass was fun. DS9 should have left the MU rest for awhile after that.

I think the Ent take on the Mirror universe are as good as DSC’s. DS9: surprisingly, was the only one of the spins to have screwed the pooch with respect to the MU.

I think DS9's started good. I loved the idea of seeing what Kirk's intervention wrought. They just refused to let the setting go until long after they had nothing left to say about it that was worth saying.

ENT's was fine, I guess, but it was completely irrelevant and pointless. It literally only existed to let the cast all be evil for an episode. It was like the network just picked a random fanfic and filmed that instead of coming up with a story that actually fit in the show.

Also, Intendant Kira was ill-conceived but the (over) acting in ENT was worse than any other mu episode.

I've been watching Picard and it's neither good or bad... the series is constantly dragging its feet to get to the point. While watching I was thinking, "Gee-whiz if Berman was running this series what we've gotten so far would've been wrapped up in one episode. And the plot to find Data's daughter??? Probably done in two episodes and on with other stories to tell <some good & bad>." I'm not sure this series have a plan on what it wants to be, a pseudo - propaganda show or a pseudo - reunion show. Whatever it is it doesn't feel genuine.

Guys you need to face the fact that a 10 episodes long story arc solution is way more likeable from more people rather than a 25 episodes long season with 25 different story arcs.

Tv changed, now people wants tv shows to be like very long episodic movies rather than a multitude of very different stories, and the success of things like "the avengers" just proves this concept.

Episodic shows still exists and some are good, but there must be some form of main plot that's going on otherwise it's just an anthology show, not "the story of the voyages of starship enterprise during it's continuing five year mission"

Episodic is pretty much reserved for police procedurals and medical dramas now, and even then with character arcs. Think Law and Order SVU and the Good Doctor. I don't have strong feelings on it one way or the other, but episodic wouldn't really work for this show. Wouldn't mind seeing it for another starship centered series. All of this stuff is cyclical, so it will find favor again at some point.

I think that episodic only series will not remerge anytime soon. They were made to fit the fact that on tv you could have missed some episodes but you could still enjoy everything without missing important plot elements, but nowadays everyone want to watch the whole serie not just some casual episodes of it.

That's why TV is dying and streaming services are used that much: so you can start from episode 1 any time you want

Exactly. And I see no reason to complain about it when I know it will come back.

Personally, I prefer serialized shows. I love arcs, on going stories and consequences, something Trek struggled with for decades. Give me more of DSC, DS9, PIC and even the Kelvin films because they actually explore consequences.

I really, really can't wait until the pendulum swings back towards episodic TV, and I hope that Star Trek: The Generation After That is made during that time. I like serialized television, be it meh (DSC), good (PIC), or great (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, anything with Walton Goggins in it). But I also like episodic TV. I will not banish TOS or Berman Trek to the dust bin of history because they weren't "ten hour movies" or "novels as television." Each format has its advantages. In my opinion, DSC and PIC don't represent some incredible quantum leap in quality over TOS, TNG, DS9, and VOY (ENT, yes). They're just different. And that's okay.
