Star Trek Picard is not Star Trek

Picard only has ten episodes per season. They have a much smaller palette to work with than DS9 or TNG.

The problem with 22 eps is that you get a lot of filler. You get howlers like "Threshold," "Alice," "Take Me Out to the Holosuite," and "Spock's Brain".

That's completely understandable and of course there will be a difference in fans. That's, dare I say it, diversity of thought. So, why not apply IDIC and recognize that not all Trek is for everyone instead of declaring it "Not Really Trek!!!!!" (copyright pending) and insulting those who work hard to produce it?
Well i just think that the fracture is enough big to make the new material unwatchable for some fans.

Again, that's totally. The fans who do not like (and I cannot emphasize this enough) do not need to watch it. I don't watch TNG, I do not go in to the TNG forum and complain about it. It was not a show for me, and I did not enjoy it. There are many who do. Good for them. I mean that and wish them well.

However, what frustrates me is the insistence that the production team has such a destructive attitude towards Trek that they are trying to ruin it. And that's not the case. They are making "real Star Trek." And, like most "real" things there is variety in taste.

If Star Trek's vision is truly valuable then it must be applied to those things we do not agree with, as well as the stuff we do like.

OP, sorry you don't like it but you don't get to say what is and isn't Star Trek. You also need to take off your rose tinted and extremely distorted sunglasses. I am getting sick to death of people misrepresenting and selectively recalling what has come before in criticising these FIVE EPISODES of television we have so far seen. Get over yourselves, honestly and get some perspective of reality instead of living in this world where you've convinced yourselves that all Star Trek before 2009 portrayed this perfect utopian humanity that could do no wrong and consisted of hundreds of episodes of perfection. The world has changed. Television has changed. Audience expectations and desires have changed. Change happens. In all aspects of life and culture, past, present and future. Deal with it!
Yeah change from good to bad happens a lot.

Hi, I'm a fan for over three decades
I really doubt that fans wanted to see things like the platform Sulu vs Ninjas fight,
I liked it, gave Sulu more character than six TOS movies did
the pathetic giant Kirk hand
I like men with big hands more than men with pathetic tiny hands
or the laughable plot holes
idk, seems very Trek-y to me
like how Kirk is sent in a pod directly to the same planet where old Spock is.
why not, it's in the Vulcan system and close enough that Nero would strand Spock there to witness the destruction of Vulcan and the Enterprise was in the area as well.
the bad guy tests the "weapon" against one crew member
not a fan of it, not against it either
fires like Terminator against everyone in the Klingon world.
You haven't seen Terminator for a very long time, I guess
Yeah that's very loyal to the old Trek hahahah
It mostly is, yeah

They are trying to simplify Star Trek by focusing in its less complex and critical aspctes, trying to make most people It was more action adventure than future uthopic moral based. That's why you now see all that official propaganda talking about the " failed TNG movies", the so bad and boring TMP, etc while its in Kirk and Spock fightning with some spears where the glorious Star Trek past belongs.

What is important is to respect all fans
Because Star Trek doesn't mean the same thing to every one. Guess what-Gene pitched as an action/adventure series. I see plenty of that.

I'm not convinced that these people in charge don't get Star Trek. I think they see Star Trek differently than fans do. Which makes sense.
Like a money machine basically.

As i said most fans wont lose time writting about this they Will just rewatch the old good times of Star Trek or wait to see if It returns in Picard (It doesnt seem It Will) or in another series or new movies. But in the current times is not probable

If the last fans polls and most of them are putting TWOK and FC as the best movies and Inner Light and City on the Edge of Forever as best episode im glad that things are not so bad as this forum thread could make me think.

Projection isn't going to change anything. Some like Picard, some like older stuff and Picard, Some like Disco better than Picard, some hate the 90s stuff but love TOS, Some love TOS and Picard...
