I think Raffi was engaging in hyperbole. She should post here.I think that's indicating Picard's disconnect and Rafi's anger. Again, not a commentary. But, I read lots of things in to things that are not there.

Other way around. CBS pays us.![]()
Nope, hidden under the desk.Picard's phaser was in a holster slung over a chair.
Ummm ... At least I remembered correctly that there was a chair nearby.Nope, hidden under the desk.
It's also extremely possible that there was a gun strapped under that chair, too. We just didn't see it.Ummm ... At least I remembered correctly that there was a chair nearby.

... and then Cancelling it also.NBC still owes me for promoting TOS years before I was even born.
I dont care what this Star Trek Picard fans say, is not Star Trek and It wont never be. This series doesnt represent Star Trek, Gene Rodenberry's vision. Until Enterprise ended, It evolved but always inside that vision, just in different ways.
Now that they are making many series, I think it would be nice if one of them was more episodic. Frankly, I miss that. I miss getting that complete story, conclusion and all under an hour. I'm a bit burned by the serialisation. There have been so many shows and movie franchises where I dedicated years following them and in the end it turns out to be just some bizarre shaggy-dog story. This is my greatest fear with Picard as well.Do we really want to go back to the days of problems being resolved in 45 minutes?
You gotta take off the rose colored glasses and blindersGene's "vision" can be constricting -- even suffocating -- at times.![]()
I think you're right and no I don't. My biggest frustration is always the neat little wrap up that a lot of Trek used. This is hardly an original sentiment, but I do think that much of the perception that the new shows are too "dark" stems from the format more than the content. Harsh content seems less harsh when its wrapped up in forty-five minutes and everything is back to normal the very next ep.
Picard is brutally tortured to the point of breaking? Kirk sees his wife (and unborn child) stoned to death before his eyes? That's as rough as anything we've seen in the new shows, but then next episode everybody is back on bridge, bantering or drinking Earl Grey tea, and that horrors of last week are forgotten, never to be mentioned again.
Do we really want to go back to that?
Indeed. This reminds me of the argument made by some fans that TOS era Trek should look exactly like it did in 1966. The response, of course, is that in TOS we saw a 1966 representation of the fictional 23rd century. In Ent and DSC we are seeing a 21st century representation of the 22nd and 23rd centuries. As for dialogue, it's always an issue. We can't write actual 2399 dialogue since we don't know what that would sound like. I don't know why it's preferable to go to some bland lowest-common-denominator version of English rather than to use current vernacular. But this does bother some people, yes.
Well someone you know probably did.I never said that.
