Spoilers Star Trek Picard - Only for Adults?

I don't know where the age limit is in your country to be able to watch Picard. For watching the last episode I had to register on Amazon with the numbers of my identity card to prove that im 18 or older.

TNG in Germany was cleared for 12 year old minors - with the exception of the famous scene in Conspiracy (where Remmick's head has been shot off) being cut from the episode.

Are there any age restrictions in your country or are people under 18 able to register for watching Picard? Is age limitation necessary?

I think age limitation was necessary. Cutting out violent scenes makes the viewer miss some important developments in the story line. On the other hand, I hope that they will keep the violent scenes at a minimum.....

In the USA since CBS All Access is a paid service, that is the only block to children viewing it.

It's up to individual parents to decide if a TV-M (Mature) rated show is suitable for their children.

The Entertainment Industry here has established a Television Rating System to inform folks of the individual shows content, but there isn't really any Government Standard that has been created ... yet.

Children might view it in case they have an adult available who allows them to watch it..... Is it suited for 12 year olds?

It really depends on each individual child.
Not having kids of my own, I can only go by what my Nieces & Nephews were allowed to watch in their very early tweens.
Since they watched a lot of stuff with their Uncle (me) and he was always willing to explain stuff to them whenever they had questions and it was mostly Sci-Fi shows/movies they were viewing...
(i'm not into blatant horror/gore)
My sister had no problem with them watching Star Trek and such with me.
We even watched a lot of old B&W scary monster movies on TV.

As with most Dramatic Shows being made today, it is perhaps prudent to make watching a TV-M Rated show a family affair when kids are involved.

It's also a great way to actually talk to your children with out a phone in their face.

Nope.

Episode 1 was pretty safe, and swearing whilst daft is pretty safe, but it took a hard swerve with the last two episodes into not suitable and too much gore. Which is a shame, but entirely predictable. Mainly this most recent one.

No blatant nudity so far. It would be no problem in Germany, but the Americans don't show too much nudity. It wouldn't pass local censorship. But they are quite generious with gore/splatter....

No one wants to warp any young minds into twisted adulthood. Who knows what someone packing guns in Walmart might do if they had a lifetime watching peoples nethers from childhood.

Pfft, kids watch much worse on YouTube.
This is very true...

Star Trek, ALL Star Trek, are very safe for children in comparison.
AND there are some very lovely and wonderful things in ST that can be inspirational for kids and adults.
