Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Well, frankly, it's hard to imagine why he would take part in such a dreadful production. Except, of course, the dough. One would thing Stewart wouldn't sell himself to third rate screenwriters and producers. Lure of money and fame did it, however. A shame.

You might want to read or listen to interviews with him to see what he thinks. He can speak for himself. You don't have to speak for him. Because you can't get inside his head.

I'm not so sure about that. There certainly is darkness there, but I believe that the story will be a positive one. It will be about overcoming that darkness. Picard has not lost his integrity, and am confident that ultimately he will prevail in the moral sense. I have much more issues with versions of Star Trek where the supposed hero accepts and embraces the moral decay like Sisko and Archer did.

Hopefully you are right. But I have no hopes for this show as long as the same team works on it. If another creative team with a respectable approach towards Trek/Picard were to be assigned to it, I would strongly agree with your notion.

I get the Sisko reference. but not the one about Archer. What have I forgotten?

irrelevant. It has become obvious D*x has never seen a single episode of Star Trek before and knows about the property mostly from Futurama and TBBT

Correction: It has become obvious Kurtzman, Goldsman, Chabon have never seen a single episode of Star Trek before and know about the property mostly from Futurama and TBBT

The current team is certainly more respectful than you've been shown to be in this thread.

Kurtzman is an untalented hack, just like Jar Jar Abrams, who doesn't really care about the franchise. Berman did care. And back then Trek was good. Now it's just a manure. Produced by Klutzman & Co. You can't seriously expect me to believe they have respect for the franchise. That's what they may say, but what they do with is an entirely different thing. And we have seen the results (STD, STP).

Assimilate this motherfucker!

Works for me.
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that this was meant as a humorous example of Picard potentially using the phrase, but it looks like a flame of the poster. Don't do this again.

The character. He was originally a decent seeming friendly guy, who was unfortunately assigned to be a starship captain due nepotism, couldn't handle the pressure and became psycho space pirate by the third season.

Any criticism towards STP in the general discussion thread seems to be like water in a desert; practically non-existent.
As many have told you, go read the individual episode discussion threads. You'll find no lack of very vocal and persistent criticism of the show in there, including on the aspects of the show that you dislike. This is the general discussion thread, meant for odds and ends that aren't even worth their own thread. The meat and potatoes of this forum is in the episode discussions.

I know where this is all going. Let me know when it runs its course. I have other things to do.
YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE NEXT 20 PAGES!!!

Translation of another batch of Dix's posts: "If Patrick Stewart does something I don't agree with, it must be because of money! No other possible explanation."
Well that didn't take long.

That actually leaves me more confused than I was. Space pirate?

yep, because Icheb is a highly known, not-at-all-obscure, Star Trek character that everyone would immediatly recognize

Pulling the eye out of Icheb's eye socket, just to make it a revenge-driven plot device for Seven of Nine? Who comes up with this dreck? Kirsten Beyer. Right.
