Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Producers after work on more than one show (Kurtzman is working on Picard, Disco, and Hawaii Five-O).

MG is in its fourth season.

I didn't know he was working on Hawaii Five-O too.

Even more proof that everything can't be laid down on him, no matter how much certain people want to. It's too much for him to oversee the nitty-gritty of absolutely everything. It's just not possible for one human being.

Anyways I’d be willing to take you more seriously if you posted in other threads on this forum, and not just in threads of shows you hate. The fact you only post to complain about shit you dislike is a huge red flag that I shouldn’t take you seriously.

I haven't posted because I haven't been active here. I wanted to drop by at TrekBBS and see how this show is being received here. Any criticism towards STP in the general discussion thread seems to be like water in a desert; practically non-existent. STP is regarded here almost as some kind of masterpiece. There is no fault with it, whatsoever. It's perfect. It's 100% pure Star Trek. It's like I stepped into a Kurtzmanland. That should be a red flag to me that I shouldn't take the folks here seriously. And some of them have already proven that they are not to be taken seriously at all. Klutzmanland.

That seemed to be reaction to the first episode. (Which made me take mental note of things certain people were praising for Picard that they'd be up in arms about if it were Discovery) But since that first episode, things have seemed to come back down to Earth.

There's a perfectly good "I Hate Kurtzman Trek" zone on Youtube where you would fit in perfectly and everybody there would sing your praises.

[Seinfeld] That's a shame. [/Seinfeld]

nothing is perfect, most things can be improved. that's life. nevertheless, your arguments so far haven't been really...compelling. you critizise the show for things Star Trek has always done and is part of Star Trek's DNA, yet you see yourself as a defender of Gene's Vision, a guy who wasn't opposed to more sex and drugs and profanity. some of it even in the TV shows

Gene would probably throw up after seeing Stewart in this series. I have no idea why Stewart even agreed to that. Ah but the smell of cash and rekindling of past fame is strong, I guess.

Thus far none of the other arguments are worth taking seriously either. It smacks of "not real Star Trek " and gatekeeping, rather than good faith discussion.

What do you think motivated Gene Roddenberry?

Do you imagine he had some prophetic vision he wished to share with the world and created Star Trek as his way of doing that?
