I haven't posted because I haven't been active here. I wanted to drop by at TrekBBS and see how this show is being received here. Any criticism towards STP in the general discussion thread seems to be like water in a desert; practically non-existent. STP is regarded here almost as some kind of masterpiece. There is no fault with it, whatsoever. It's perfect. It's 100% pure Star Trek. It's like I stepped into a Kurtzmanland. That should be a red flag to me that I shouldn't take the folks here seriously. And some of them have already proven that they are not to be taken seriously at all. Klutzmanland.

Gene Roddenberry at least. Gene Wilder, well that's a different situation, but I'm not sure he was into Star Trek at all.

Gene made a lot of money and pestered a lot of women to get into bed with him. He then took credit for a lot of ideas other people came up with and presented himself as a latter day Messiah whilst being acknowledged as a burden to the creative teams on TNG.

I haven't really been around the Picard forum, mostly for real life reasons, so I haven't kept up with all 130+ pages of discussion in this thread or the episode discussion threads, but from my experiences in the Discovery forum, the general discussion thread tends to not be the place where people talk about wether they like or dislike the show. In DSC people tended to make threads about how they dislike the show or talk about that in the episode discussion threads. I'd imagine, if you're looking for criticism, you will find some in the episode discussion threads.

I ask again, what do you imagine motivated Roddeberry? You seem to have accepted the very fictionalised version of him which he pushed during the early 1980s but no one who knew him actually recogises.
