Spoilers Count your holograms and smile thread

IDK - Given Ep. 4 and how cavallier Rios is WRT his personal ship facing off against a (admittedly old, but still) Romulan BoP - and how his ship has it's own fully operational Holodeck to recreate Picard's Villa; I'm really starting to wonder if Rios himself is a Hologram; and Rafti set this all up for Picard (in cahoots with the Vulcan/Romulan Admiral) and SHE'S the one who's the 'plant' in Picard's group and not Anji. :vulcan::whistle:;)
This is becoming more and more likely.

He didn't strike me as cavalier at all about the dogfight, but it also seemed clear that he is very familiar with the politics in this part of space and is used to such scraps - he's an independent operator, accepts this kind of risk as part of the mission.

I can't quite believe how many people have started to believe this fan theory about Rios being a hologram, based on no evidence at all. It started out as one fan's outlandish speculation, but because it has been repeated so many times, more and more people are starting to believe it. I think the show has made it clear that he is flesh and blood, and has more than enough plot mysteries going on without adding yet another.

Because it seems (from watching two seasons of ST: D) - that's how this production/writing team rolls.

If they do something 'obvious' 'like set up Anji as the mole since she was visited by Commadore Oh in sunglasses, then she's not the mole. Rafti is supposed to be the 'old burnoout' who still has a thing/respects Picard, and while he abandoned her, supposedly, she wants to 'make it right' by him. <--- Yeah, she's the mole. She just happens to have a willing Pilot with an unregistered ship available who also somehow (because he's Ex Starfleet) is willing to follow Jean Luc Picard anywhere and do practically anything with little complaint because it's Picard, and Picard is paying him something (who knows what as we, the audience NEVER even got a negotiation of price scene between them -- just endless rehashings of "Here's another view of how Picard left Star Fleet/How Mars was attacked... So yeah, I can buy that this writing staff feels it's 'novel' that a Pomulan Spy used an old acquaintance to set up a situation where maybe they killed the actual Captain of that ship; and are using one of a plethora of Holograms that he had, to get Picard to do the task of finding Soji, making her feel safe, and ultimately delivering her to the Zat Vash -- and Rafti has her revenge on Picard for abandoning her/wrecking her life after the Mars attack. Picard made a deal with the "Emergency Captain Hologram".

Yeah ... NO.

Rios is a Human who's a lost soul and Loner due to horrible circumstances beyond his control.
The EH's are how he deals with all of it without having to actually talk to another living person.

It's pretty obvious to me after watching Cabrera's interview on The Ready Room this week, that there's not even a hint that the character is a hologram of any kind.

BTW: Dr. Agnes Jurati was the one visited by Commodore Oh.
And it's Raffi that is working with Jean-Luc and she does NOT have a "thing" for him.

You might wanna at least learn the names of the characters before spouting wild baseless theories.

I expect better from you.

(unless of course you're just quoting the ME crowd ???)

Also, the Writing Teams of DISCOVERY & PICARD are completely different.
Only the very top Management is involved with both.

I don’t mind running with some out-there theories as they’ll probably be more interesting than what Kurtzman can come up with. His Salvation stuff was bonkers, but not in a good, well thought out way, so hopefully he’ll be reigned in a bit more on Picard.

If they keep referencing the captain who went *splat* on the windscreen without actually following it up with details on who he was, his history, what he looked like, the mystery of the ship etc, then it gets more likely that it’s Rios. But for now it’s just another theory I read here that I liked the idea of.

Seeing his mindset and his interest in depressing existentialist writings about how life is an inescapable tragedy, maybe he also has an Emergency Commiserating Hologram, who wears a nylon tracksuit with cracked Chinese sneakers, and is constantly smoking a cigarette while Slav-squatting with a half-empty bottle of vodka in his other hand, offering a constant stream of Dostoevsky-esque bone-dry commentary in expletive-laden Russian about how utterly miserable life and everything is.
He has an Emergency Counseling Hologram that has what ever that accent was the Sirtis used for Troi,

Except Kurtzman ISN'T on PICARD's Writing Staff.

He the Executive Producer of all things Trek now.

We really need to get over that hump.

If I were Quark I would like to acquire a Rios hologram - for sexual pleasures for (mostly) female crew members aboard DS9 - not to mention all the guests. In the Litverse.....

Quark has a Dabo boy named Hetik

Why not hiring a Dabo Hologram - and for certain hours in the holosuit. :D
