I would be happy with the Enterprise E, but if the USS Verity does end up being canon then we could see the Enterprise F, however unlikely that may be.

I personally dont actually mind if its a noname ship but I cant see the show runners missing the opportunity.
In the next show after Picard, if they want to explore early 25th century Starfleet, knock your self out: USS Verity-A, USS Voyager-B, USS Defiant-C, USS Derivative, USS Bozeman (with Kelsey Grammer still in command :D).. etc. etc..
Point of Picard is not to focus on Starfleet, so they will not be introducing any major new ships just as a minor character. If we see any at all, they will be old ships, slightly refit, but still recognizable.

...and was it assumed reading for understanding basic facts about on screen characters?

There was no assumed reading for understanding the show. Picard drew about nine million viewers and the comic might have sold 50,000 issues. The comic was for people who had money to throw away, it gave no great insight to the characters.

To me the second season of Disco has been one of the top ten shows on TV, by the same standard. The pilot of Picard was excellent, I agree next two episodes were too short, but don’t assume because you don’t like it everyone else is lowering their standards.

Wrong. It's called a "dishonorable discharge".

The best way for this to happen is to get "Article 15'd". Then, there is the court-martial option if the soldier wants to challenge the A15, the results of which may end in a DD if the charge is severe and prosecutory evidence is compelling enough.

There used to be the good old Section 8 (made famous by Klinger in M*A*S*H), which is now no longer practiced, for obvious reasons.

Here is a complete list of all discharge types - some of them on dishonorable grounds.

Please do a little basic research before making completely ignorant broad-band claims about things you know not what.
Ah yes the old "wearing of the dress" ploy.

I personally am a fan of the always cunning "Stick pencils up your nose and speak gibberish" ploy myself.

No reason was given for why Rafi was getting discharged just because Picard resigned, and she didn’t say “I’m being court martialed”, she said “Fired”.

I think when the EMH activated itself, it was Q in disguise, pushing things in a particular direction...
We should see Q at least once before the end of the series, especially if Picard doesnt make it to the end alive.

And? Do you think her being the Tal Shiar blew people's minds if they hadn't read the comic? I don't think it did.

Plus it was super early in the series, not something out of left field 2 seasons in.

I was more confused WHY Picard had two highly trained intelligence agents as domestic workers in his villa, until last night's episode where it became clear they were actually his bodyguards.

I didn’t read the comic until last week, and it was sure as hell confusing.
I read it and saw about the Tal Shiar which actually made sense as Picard tried to save them and not all of them are nutcases.

I nearly shat the bed when I saw the Odyssey class USS Verity, was not expecting that in the comic, canon or not.

If I were to list all the shows on TV in the last two years I thought were better than the two Trek shows, I wouldn’t get much farther than Better Call Saul, Succession, Westworld, Good Place, Stranger Things, GoT, OitNB and certain comedy news shows. And three of those just ended.

And that’s by the same standard I judge everything else.
