might be a germanism (we got rather long sentences)
  1. in the end the cinc has to appologize to jean-luc because the latter was right all along
  2. that happens at starfleet hq and life on fnn
  3. they have an honour guard for jean luc
  4. one member of that honour guard is a tamarian ensign
better?

Nope. I understood the first time, I just don't need another Michael Burnham moment where every one is awe of just how smart Picard is and how dumb Starfleet is.

Well, it's official, we'll be passing by a third of the season soon, & to be honest, I'm kind of bored by this. I hope we're at least past the getting to know you stuff :sigh:
Everyone who is bored by this, what do you want exactly? This is best Trek in decades...
You all are entitled to your own wrong opinions...

just standing in the ranks - not jean-luc stopping in front of him and asking 'where are you from, son' - maybe he's visible for 5 seconds

edit:

oops - i think i got it now, you loathe the appology not that tamarian ensign?

... i fear there will be a big rehabilitation in the end (may be posthumously)

I'm opposed to the scene in any form. I would rather see Picard go out on the frontier, where he was meant to be his entire life. Not waiting to die while parades go on around him.

One other thing that has been asked several times in this thread: how can Starfleet possibly cover up the very existence of the USS Ibn Majid?

They are well-practiced at such cover-ups. See the very last episode of STDisco Season 2, for exactly that.

I hope they aren't trying to top idiocy on top of idiocy. I'm hoping the fate of the ibn Majid is a bit more complicated than "don't talk about it".

Yeah, I wasn't a big fan of that, either. It was a clunky "solution" to something that didn't need solving.

I don't know. In Unimatrix Zero she was hostile to Axum for no good reason. It's just the way she is.
Didn't she feel rather violated that he had been having this long-term romantic relationship with her that she had no idea about? It's been a while since I saw that episode.

Having worked as a contractor for various FedGov defense and non-defense projects pretty consistently since 9/11, I find that there is far too much abject incompetence and bureaucratic stonewalling to generate and effectively preserve any real long-term cover-ups and conspiracies. Are there cover-ups? Sure. Is it the norm that Hollywood would have us believe in their shows and movies? Not even close.

Mostly self-preservation to cover up daily stupid, and not some deep dark cabal of eeeeevil-doers.

What if Rios is a synth? And the ibn Majid was a Starfleet testbed for synthetics controlling a starship? Which would explain why all records of it were wiped away.
You don't talk about Burnham and the spore drive with out consequences. Sadly he was just chewing out Crewman Michaels about burning some ham. ;)

She wasn't violated. She went willingly, she just didn't remember it. But Axum didn't do anything wrong, he didn't impose anything on her, yet she was angry, as I said for no reason and then she came around toward the end because of one conversation with the doctor. It wasn't Axum's fault that she'd forgotten everything but she was angry with him all the same.

"In my century we don't succumb to abject incompetence and bureaucratic stonewalling. We have a more evolved sensibility."

They were called Picard moments back in the TNG days. And there were a bunch of them.

These are the Kurtzman days now. Though even Archer's gazelle speech didn't hit as high on the cringe factor as Burnham's speeches.

Well, the nature of human emotion is that it isn't always rational. Often quite the contrary. And Seven was still at a point where she was struggling to make sense of her humanity, etc.

That's assuming that Rios is even telling the truth. I mean we just met this guy and by all accounts he does appear rather messed up.
