Picard did not have fortitude, he was cocky and even said he never thought they would accept his resignation. That's why he's depressed and has been hiding on his vineyard for 15 years.

And I don't think you're supposed to love Raffi at this point..........
Exactly. Like Benjamin Sisko before her, Raffi has some serious emotional baggage where Jean-Luc Picard is concerned. In a way, it was a missed opportunity for Sisko not to hold onto that animosity for a bit, rather than have it magically disappear after the Orb experience. This will be a chance to explore a similar dynamic.

Rizzo and Narek most definitely have something going on, I have seen that kind of predatory attraction before, one of them is going to end up killing the other, it may even be that Rizzo is jealous of the attention Narek is giving Soji and we all know what happens in those situations.

Raffi sucks at this point. They wanted him to use people he used to work with. So instead of Dr. Crusher, they got a character who was CMO on the Stargazer. He says he wont ask Worf, Riker, and LaForge to help him. They would sacrifice anything to do that. So F them! Instead he will ask Raffi? WTF does that even mean? So he doesnt mind if she risks everything? Why is her risking everything OK, but not Geordi? And people are giving this 8/10? Are you kidding?
She's the kind of person who would know a sketchy pilot who could take him somewhere no questions asked.

Not sure that's quite Riker or Geordi's area of expertise.

We get it, you don't like it.
Please stop pizzin' on everybody who does.

Raffi is apparently the only person Jean-Luc knows that can get him the kind of ship he needs, that's why.
And he doesn't want to involve his crew from the Enterprise cause he's going off the books to do this.

And actually, we do see him eventually going to Riker and Deanna in the trailers.

I think there's a fine line between relevant criticism and nitpicking. While some of the criticisms are what I consider relevant, some are bordering on the latter.
I don't really care about the 'criticisms' of the show, those are just (bad) opinions.:p

I just don't care for the implied insults towards those of us that do like the show.

The implied insults don't bother me as much as the nitpicking, lol. Some of the points being made are what I would consider "looking for a reason(s) to dislike the show." If you look hard enough at anything, you can take it apart point by point. I personally can't go into a movie or TV show with that kind of preformed approach; it takes all the enjoyment out of actually watching it.

I am not "pizzin" on anyone. I am asking why any of this makes sense? Why is it ok to ask Raffi to risk everything but not Geordi or Worf? "They would do anything for me, so I cant ask them." Huh? How did that make sense to you? Ok, so he will ask someone else to risk everything? Why? Because he cares less about them? Why is it bad to ask his TNG colleagues but not his Stargazer or future Starfleet colleagues? Then again Kurtzman thought it was totally sensible that a 3rd year cadet Kirk would be made Captain. So, no accounting for taste...or logic.

Yeah, all that 'opinions are like arseholes' kinda thing.
We all got one.
But most of us don't go using it as a surreptitious weapon to insult others.

I think so yeah, we are not supposed to like her now but as in an earlier post she will recover over the course of the show, wouldnt surprise me if both of them end up back in Starfleet by the end.

When Picards suspicions are shown to be true he will be able to ask for anything he wants.

That is assuming everyone survives of course.

I already told you why...
Raffi is the only one Picard knows that can get him a ship in order to be able to do what he intends to do.
And again, we have already seen in the trailers that apparently, things don't go as planned and Jean-Luc DOES end up going to members of his Enterprise crew to get help.
(Riker & Troi)
We see Jean-Luc practically tell Riker that he's Fk'd up and needs Will's help.

I really doubt it anyone will end up back in Starfleet because in the overall line-up of shows - having the main cast not be in Star Trek is part of the differentiation.

I gather Picard could get a ship anywhere. A crew? More of a chore. Both of those, without everybody in Starfleet knowing? Before he mouthed off at the CinC, this might have been possible. Now, somebody like Raffi knowing somebody like Rios might really be the only option open to him.

That is, unless he went to the Klingons. But him being seen as a pal of the now deposed and de-entrailed Gowron might have put an end to that perk. Or to the Romulans. But he sort of doesn't have a reason to trust them.

Even Laris & Zhaban don't know which Romulans to trust and they are ex-Tal Shiar.

Because from a practical standpoint (outside of the show), they didn't want to make a ST:TNG 2 with all of the old cast joining Patrick Stewart on a mission in outer space. And they needed a in-show explanation to do it. Would you have preferred an alternative explanation, like "everyone else is already dead?" or "everyone else is also in their 70's but still working on a starship somewhere else?" Are either of those explanations more believable or palatable? Sometimes you have to accept certain plot devices in order to suspend your disbelief and enjoy the show. Everyone has a different level of tolerance to these devices, but I think by and large what the writers did with this particular situation was acceptable, both in a practical and a dramatic sense.

Thank you... it's too early in the morning for me to be this articulate.

Picard didnt say that. He said they would do anything for him. So he cant ask them! Not that Riker, Worf or Geordi are somehow not able to get him a ship. That was not his reason, and it makes no sense anyway. We will see what he says to Riker or others. But what we have seen is already transparently silly. She's vaping her life away and struggling but she knows who all the great Captains for Hire are? So why didnt she get a job with them if that is true?

Picard probably will end up back in Starfleet and if he goes Raffi and Rios will go too as long as they survive.

Perhaps even starting a spinoff on a new ship with Picards character recurring every now and then.

Picard said it himself he never felt comfortable in the chateau.
