Vague hints at the possibility of "Firefly" revival, maybe wishful thinking...

This. :techman: But I'd take more Verse stories if there are any worth telling. Perhaps if they could reveal what happened to some of the major characters tangentially without the fan service being too overt.

What do you think will happen first, a new Star Wars movie or a Firefly something?

Let's... the franchise whose lowest box office was 392 million dollars world wide or the franchise whose only movie made 40 million world wide...

    Tough call.

Oh I was making fun of this topic because I don't think we will ever get anything meaningful from the Firefly universe ever again. They have been doing this bullshit for 15 years. However there won't be Star Wars movies for three years (?) so many Firefly 3.0 will happen by then.

We'll get the Firefly continuation shortly after the Crusade one.

I was watching Babylon 5 for the first time. Just watched the first episode of season 5 and Amazon Prime pulled it without warning! So pissed.

Can you afford the DVDs? You've seen enough of the show to know weither it's worth the investment (It is, I have them and watch them at least once a year). That way you'll have them on hand to watch when you want.

My sister may or may not have them. She used to but then lost a season or two during moves. What gets me is if they had it on a list of shows that were going away I would have watched the finale episode and just skipped season 5. I know it was filmed with season 4 anyways and season 5 is just an epilogue in a way.

B5 season 5 is mostly the Scouring of the Shire. There are a few good episodes but most are missable if one is not an uber fan of the first four seasons.

I think the 2nd half is pretty important.

Can't be that important if it wasnt part of the original 5 year plan.

    But it 'twas.

He reshuffled stuff because they thought season 4 was going to be the last. That's why they shot the finale as a part of Season 4, but then at the last minute, it was saved.

Yes I know all that. So seasons 4 and 5 of the original plan were shoved all into season 4 with the ending. That's the end, it had the finale episode. So season 5 that we got wasn't part of the plan.

Things changed through out the other seasons, like characters dropped, new characters taking over important story points, moving things between seasons... arguably none of the original plan remained...

Story points he abandoned because he wasn't sure he would get a season 5 he eventually used in season 5. He didn't just willy nilly make up Season 5 as he went along.

It looks like Fox must have gotten the rights to the movie at some point. I checked my e-book copy of the collection of Leaves on the Wind, the first post-movie miniseries, and it's copyrighted to Fox, after that I checked my paperback copy of the trade of Those Left Behind and it's copyrighted to Universal.
I guess that depends on your definition of meaningful, there have been new novels and comics coming out for the last year or two. Both seem to be continuing so they must be at least somewhat successful, but I'm not sure if they'd be successful enough to translate to a successful movie or revival show.

It did explain some things like how Londo got a Keeper and how Centauri Prime was ravaged.

...Farscape season 5, Dark Matter season 4, and Stargate Universe season 3? Actually, I'll pass on that last one. Crusade and Firefly were both murdered in the crib by their network execs but as the latter were providing the funding, its their choice to make. I guess these series could be redone from scratch but the same kinds of stories can be told in different universes with different characters. Many times, the conclusion to a series is a disappointing anticlimax anyway, much like life.
