Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

I mean, you're not wrong, but its pretty much part of Starfleet from the word go ;)
Except that insanely long reign of the monster maroons. We all know why it happened from production perspective, but from in-universe perspective it is really bizarre.

So I watched the first two episodes and so far it's kinda a slog. Too much fan service. Too much dot-connecting. And too much introducing characters and problems and immediately revealing what's going on. If you're going to do a slow burn then do it and trust your audience to stay along for the ride.

The technobabble is as bad as it was when it drove me away from the shows in the first place. The CSI "magic' tech in the apartment had me eye-rolling. The whole bit about recreating Data's memories or whatever from a single positronic neutron immediately brought to mind the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy bit about deriving a picture of the whole Universe on the principle of extrapolated matter analyses based on one small piece of fairy cake.

The bidirectional transporter gates made me guffaw. People would be crashing into each other all the time.

Not giving up on it but I'm thus far not hooked or frankly very impressed.

There must be an indicator, somehow. You can see one person step wide to avoid an incoming person who has not appeared yet.

It's not a production goof. No way, no how! ;)
