    Noticed that picture and a few others give Ruk's skin a golden Data like hue. I wonder if Dr. Soong took a trip to Exo III at one point. ;)

    I agree, it would be in keeping with the more complex nature of the show to not have a single villain, but multiple people acting on their own feelings of what is best. And Picard's race against time, is about the onset of Irumodic Syndrome.

    It need not mean the end of Picard, as there are ways it can be dealt with, should they want to remove the threat by the end of the season or show.

    - Borg implants to replace the damaged lobe of the brain;
    - A gift from Q if Picard is deemed to be important for something in the future;
    - Voyager's EMH or Beverley could have a new treatment;

    My guess is that it's going to be a conspiracy between Starfleet and the Romulans (The Undiscovered Country also featured multiple antagonists on both sides, Federation and Klingon).

    What if Commodore Oh turned out to be a Section 31 human/Korean agent pretending to be a Zhat Vash Romulan operative posing as a Vulcan Starfleet officer? :D

    I’m putting my money on Agnes Jurati being a twist/mole/surprise villain. Likely part of the Zhat Vash. I think the old bearded guy on his back that we see in the preview clips (some are scared it’s Riker) is actually Maddox. Picard finds him and says he brought Agnes. That’s when he tells Picard that that is who he was hiding from in the first place. It’ll be more dramatic as Picard will realize he will have just left Soji alone with her. Then we’ll get flashbacks of Agnes’ lines from previous episodes like “People in the AI field tend to have secret plans”, “Our focus shouldn’t be on Dahj, it should be finding the other one”, “Female, I guess you could build them that way” (it never occurred to her because she doesn’t see them as people). Raffi’s first instincts will be not to trust her, “You’re just going to bring Agnes here on our secret mission?”.

    Maddox recruited her right out of the Academy. Her resume must have been “too perfect” being so young. The synths came from her lab. I bet her mission was to program in and activate the Synths to destroy the ship yards leading to the galaxy wide ban on them. She stayed in her position to keep on top of and sabotage any future advancement. She may have even been the one to deactivate B4 and erase Data’s download, since he seemed to be working fine the last we saw him.

    That’s my prediction! Will probably be 100% wrong though lol.

    How the hell does anyone think that's Riker? He's obviously not Jonathan Frakes.

    I do think that's going to be Maddox, which means that they recast him, as he doesn't look like Brian Brophy either.

    I think whoever the Zhat Vash's master is the true Big Bad of the series, we don't know who that is at the moment, its not Narek like the first couple of posts suggested, I could see him switching sides when the true plan is revealed.

    Even if the villain thinks he or she is right, doesn't make them sympathetic persay, it depends on what they are doing. If the Zhat Vash's hatred of androids is so all-consuming, that they caused the attack on Mars, killed over 90,000 people and let millions of Romulans die in the process, that is hard to make sympathetic.

    Nah Narek doesnt strike me as the villain and never did, I want to see exactly what happened so long ago before I decide about whether they were right or not.

    Its odd, attacking Mars with all its synths is fair enough but why screw up the fleet as well.

    Did something go wrong or was it simply the most effective time to strike, why not wait until the rescue fleet has picked everyone up, Mars would still be running with a skeleton crew so nothing is lost by waiting.

    There is a lot more to it I think, we just have to wait for the episodes.

    It would have been better if they had released it all at once, then again that would not guarantee a lengthy subscription to CBS All Access though.

    The Zhat Vash could be so fanatical that they timed the attack to ensure the fleet would be destroyed, maximum casualties would be inflicted on Mars and let millions of Romulans die, just to ensure that the Synths were really demonized. Really a lot of organizations with no morality make those choices all the time and easily. ISIS commits brutal acts against other Muslims and Hitler had the ''Nero Order'' to destroy Germany's infrastructure so the Allies could not use it.

    Is there really gonna be a villain?
    Going back to my earlier post where I said Picard was the main antagonist.
    As an example I’m gonna use the current political issue with illegal immigration. People don’t want illegals coming into their country. Yet on the other side, the illegals have their reasons for wanting to immigrate. There’s a valid reason for both sides, regardless of what you personally feel. The writers have said that Starfleet isn’t evil, but it has reasons for why it’s done what it has. And perhaps the Romulans, despite their perceived evilness, have reasons for why they are doing what they are. Neither is really in the wrong, despite the actions they have taken.

    I think it's going to be one part Brexit, another part -- I don't know how else to say this -- Romulans interfering with the Federation affairs and some Federation officials allowing it to happen. Or at the very least Starfleet allowing it to happen to make the parallel less on-the-nose and 1:1.

    The main villian will be the dementia eating away at Picard brain.

    Series 7 will be the perils of Picard trying to find bathroom in his chatu without getting lost before he shits himself.

    Again it depends on what the Zhat Vash are doing and why. If the Zhat Vash caused the attack on Mars, they killed over 90,000 people and ensured millions of Romulans will die in the process. Someone who commits an act that monstrous is to be hard to be sympathetic later on. Zhat Vash could have condemned millions of Romulans to death, over their hatred of AIs.

    The Romulans as a group may not be the villains, but the fanatical Zhat Vash pretty well is the villain here.

    Worse. He’s one of “The Thing” like aliens from the episode, Aquiel

  19. I believe there is actually a book where he does do this. It's Immortal Coil. (Not canon unfortunately)

    Sounds like a grand bargain between the two of them. But who is the Borg leader who made pact with the Romulans to make this happen? Hugh (who apparently works together w/the Romulans working on the cube)? Seven? Or someone else?

    Is Soji is supposed to be the next Borg Queen (as many have theorized after hearing "The Destroyer" quote) or instead, is she going to be the protagonist who will unite humans/androids (synths) and other alien races to a new form of interstellar/species cooperation?
