Spoilers Crisis on Infinite Earths Discussion (CW Event Spoiler Thread)

One thing I've been wondering is, if they maintain the characters' ignorance of the Multiverse's survival for a while, does that mean Nash will be our last Harrison Wells for the foreseeable future? But given what happened with Brainy (and Al the bartender) on Supergirl, I wouldn't be surprised if The Flash showed us that at least a few members of the Council of Wells ended up deposited together on Earth-Prime.

 

I really hope the stop with the 'Multiverse Harrison Wells of this FLASH season" paradigm that they've been in; BUT, if anything, should they continue it, that would probably be how Barry Allen finds out the Multiverse still exists.

 

I like the different Wells each season, mainly just because it's fun to see what they come up with each time they have to introduce a new one.

I was going to ask why a monkey has a mohawk, but then I rememeber, it's a comic book.

 

The physics of the universe have changed. They can longer jump to other Earths like they use to. they’ll have to figure out how for this post Crisis universe

 

We don't know that they can't. They have no real motivation to try if they believe there is no more multiverse. But I'm sure someone will "find a way" when a story calls for it.

 

The Flash trailer mentioned that the physics have changed. I would have assumed they tried to see if there was others.

 

Ah. I had not seen that yet. Only post-Crisis episode I've seen is Supergirl and no mention of this was made. I stand corrected.

That's been depicted inconsistently. On the one hand, the "Green Arrow and the Canaries" episode of Arrow established clearly that Mia remembered both the original and altered histories (though her memories were restored technologically), while Black Lightning seemed only to remember the pre-Crisis history, since he said "Superman is real" as if it were some big revelation rather than something he'd known for decades in one set of memories. And Lena only remembers pre-Crisis, though her memory is the result of Lex's deal with the Monitor (somehow, since the Monitor was dead by the time things reset) rather than J'onn's mind meld.

That's what I wanted to hear. Merging the Earths only works if it has a real payoff going forward. So far it's mostly been just passing references -- CatCo Magazine showing up on Batwoman, Agent Odell on Black Lightning mentioning he's from Gotham, throwaway stuff like that. The most we've seen of it so far was in last night's Arrow finale, with

Kara and Barry both showing up for Oliver's funeral and Diggle & Lyla moving to Metropolis.

But I hope to see more, like acknowledgment in the non-Supergirl shows of all the aliens on Earth now. And of course, more character crossovers. I'm glad to hear the producers are aware of the importance of following through on this.

 

So do we need spoilers to talk post-Crisis effects (pr how we perceive them)?

Or can we talk openly (since odds are people who dont watch the other shows reallynwont care)?

Looks like the aftermath of it will be more interesting than the crossover itself.

 

That's usually a sign of a good cross-over; lasting consequences.

Jay and Joan Garrick live on Earth One! With the implication that they always have in new history??? Not clear on that. That totally fits with the Original post Crisis comics. But in the comics Jay and Joan were not doppelgängers of Barry Allen’s parents. Even if they are dislocated from their original home Earth which no longer exists, like Black Siren, it raises questions about why they look like to dead people.

 

You mean Earth-Prime, right?

Anyway, according to the Arrow finale, the Crisis is now public knowledge, apparently. Moira Queen told the documentary audience how she'd been brought back to life in the new history. And it seems various people are dealing with doppelgangers that have ended up on Prime, at least in National City and Gotham. So I don't think it's going to be any great mystery.

Also sounds like they using this change to give old Rogues “new faces”. Literally. I am assuming it’s an angle to recast unavailable actors? The classic Rogues have been way underused.

But not to rush it too soon. Otherwise it would undermine his sacrifice.

I am glad to hear that. Oliver as the Spectre was the thing I was most disappointed about with Crisis and the finale. More a name drop, Easter Egg for comic book fans than any exploration at all. His apparent 2nd Death undermined any sense of his power as the Spectre. Plus his living in “Heaven” with Felicity appeared to close off any Earthly presence. It reeks of “Cyborg Superman” on Supergirl. A character with little meaning to its name on the show itself. I have read tons of fans of the show, with no knowledge of the comics, baffled to what happens to Oliver and Felicity. If you need to know the source material to understand an adaptation that is weak storytelling.

 

That's promising. I would like to see something like the classic dynamic of a whole team of Rogues vs. the Flash, instead of having a single Big Bad for the season.
