Spoilers Plot holes in the final s2 episode

Not only is there a second suit in existence, the hero ship is fully equipped to build more at will. They just need time crystals for those, but this time around, they can charge them up at any random supernova, all of which are within their reach with the spore drive. Oh, and they can grow more spores at will. It's not as if they would be stuck in any serious sense.

So after the first few episodes, where Burnham Jr. is obviously separated from the rest of the heroes, there will have to be plot complications to prevent the heroes from being omnipotent time travelers all. And no, "Saru is too tall for the suit" won't suffice.

Or just spore jump to another galaxy or something. Can you track a spore jump? What if they went 5 galaxies and 2 universes over? Same result.

And going to the future only makes sense of Control is omnipresent (like if in the novels, it exists in ever piece of Federation software) and can never be fully defeated.

How does Discovery disappearing solve the problem that Control is to the Federation right now? Because it's a pretty big problem.

Assuming that there is anything left of Control (which is unlikely), its ultimate endgame was trying to gain access to the sphere data that Discovery had collected. If the ship jumps into another time, Control can't get at it. Any supposed remnants of Control would have no idea where - or when - the ship jumped to.

Again, if there is Control wandering around the Federation causing problems, how is that good for the Federation? So what if Control can't get at it. It can still get at the Federation.

Control needed the sphere data to fully evolve. Without it, Control is not much of a threat, in the grand scheme of things.

Even without the sphere data, it took over all of Section 31. It's got a fleet of ships with cloaking tech and the capacity to turn human beings into artificial beings pretty hard to kill and can manipulate all sorts of current Federation technology. It's a pretty big problem.

...It was a gigantic problem for the writers of "Sorrow", and they just dodged it. If Control is still there, the UFP is in deep trouble. But if Georgiou killed it for good, there's no reason for the main heroes to travel to the future. And any "better safe than sorry" approach should err on the side of staying in the present! Okay, Burnham might need to go, what with 'em having lit the fuse and all, but the ship should remain behind. And, if need be, hitch a ride to the future with another suit and angel-pilot later on. Or with a dozen.

That is actually a good point, assuming Control created new objectives for itself once the sphere data was forever out of reach.

You know if you put the sphere data in a cube that could be seen as cubing the sphere which is like squaring the circle only better...

It sure looked like one hell of a threat to me, well before it was chasing the data. I imagine it could chase other avenues of expanding itself. We also have no clue how deeply it has embedded itself into the Federation computer infrastructure?

We may argue if we wish that Control was a fundamentally S31 thing, constrained to a carefully sealed-off computing realm for reasons of S31 paranoia already. Breaking out of that might have been what Control needed the Sphere Wisdom for: it seemed incapable of taking control of either the Discovery or the Enterprise, and only ever managed to control S31 assets such as the ships and the old jail that was the roving headquarters.

(Tampering with Starbase 5 records may have been a hands-on job, say - supposedly Control would have vectored in some flesh-and-blood S31 employees to kill the doctors and swap the video. Which is creepy, but probably standard S31 fare, and not an existential threat to the Federation.)
