Because it's not a part of current Picard's life. It was an alternate time/Q sandbox. There is no evidence, for or against, it's appearance in the upcoming show. Thus, fan fiction.

Technically most of the “present” portion of the episode didn’t happen either, so the whole thing could have been fabricated by Q, not just the past/future portions.

I for one would be quite happy if they just skipped the whole Irumodic Syndrome story. We saw it in AGT, and we’ve seen Stewart play Xavier with a similar condition in Logan, so not really interested in revisiting it.

But if they do, I will watch regardless.

Maybe it's a Syndrome that's specific to a single incident in one particular place like the one in DS9's duet...

OR...this story takes place entirely in his head, and it's a delusion resulting from the effects of irumodic syndrome.:whistle:;)

Someone just liked something I posted six months ago in this very thread. Might as well bring it forward because I think it still stands and is relevant to what's being discussed in the thread right now.

I think they'll want to make Picard's old age a strength and not a weakness. The same as they made Kirk's middle age in TWOK a strength and not a weakness.

And aside from that, happy 2020 everyone!

There's a risk of veering too far in the other direction (of reducing Picard to a sputtering fount of wisdom).

Picard was known for long rambling speeches in his prime. Old Picard will be the same but the stories won't go anywhere.

Hasn't he always been that type of person though? Goes with him being the lead character and generally in the center of things and ship's captain. They're going have to play to his strengths. He's not going to be running around. It would make sense for him to be the wisdom of the group as well as the tactician. That's something I'd really like to see. He's been in enough battles on ground and space that he should be a force to be reckoned with. Or pulling off amazing plans with his small crew possibly at a disadvantage.

The Picard Speech is well known. He even got one in to Nemesis. It wouldn't be Picard with his speech.

No reason it should ever be a weakness.

People just live longer now. Picard may be almost a hundred, but in the Trek future, that's the prime of life.

It seems that we have an answer.

In episode 2, the bad news from Picard's doc echoed Beverly's diagnosis in AGT. Picard is sick, but also strong, determined and the hero.
