You can't seriously be comparing a multi billion dollar franchise uncritically referencing a conspiracy theory to a person on an internet forum calling it out. That's the same fallacy as the people who shout "Look at the tolerant left they won't tolerate my saying LGBT shouldn't exist on twitter!"
You cited the danger of just one person Googling it. I did, but it was because you were the one drawing attention to it.

Arguing against conspiracy nuts is along the same lines as feeding the trolls...you're giving them (or their theories) exactly the attention that they want.

Yeah...this is why I've always asserted (even when I was a teenager and the show was in first-run) that there is a huge difference between Picard's perceptions of what the Federation is and what it actually is. I think most fans just buy the truth as whatever Picard droned on about (utopia, evolved sensibilities, no money because we're all here to better ourselves, etc etc etc) rather than taking what has actually has been portrayed on screen about the Federation as evidence.

As Lily Sloan said about the whole thing, "Bullshit..."

Why not? We've seen PLENTY of a-hole Vulcans. They are a race of billions, with their own failings, shortcomings, and issues. It's been like that since Valeris in TUC 29 years ago, and it's been shown that way ever since.

They can justify any kind of behavior in the name of "logic."

My favorite thing about the new versions of Star Trek (since 2009 and running) has been exactly this. I love that they subvert expectations and challenge the fans. Star Trek in 2004 had totally run its course under the old style, pacing, philosophy, and approach. I'm a huge fan, and even I was totally done with it. I'm always thrilled when they sort of jab us (the fans) purposefully. It's the only reason I'm still here.

All this talk about "it can't be that easy to leave the Federation" is frankly ridiculous. These aren't states, they're entire worlds with their own governments, millions of years of history, culture, etc etc etc. And what is the Federation...? They're going to deny someone the ability to exit (how would they even stop them)? No, I think the UFP is an extremely fragile thing, because if member worlds think things are going south....they can literally just say "we're not playing any more," so it makes things MUCH more complicated to manage politically.

And frankly, that's far more interesting dramatically as well.
Perception and reality never really meet, that is not to say that some do not believe what they are saying but then belief and reality have never met either.

Some believe they can live in a Utopia and make it real just by repeatedly telling themselves/everyone so.

There will always have to be someone doing the jobs no one else wants to do as no one has yet to invent the self cleaning toilet, for the Romulans it was the Remans and for the Federation it was Synths and that is now hard canon as we have seen it in the show.

Its not nice it just is.

Yet more evidence supporting the need for S31, essential but only to be used sparingly, the Zhat Vash seem to be similar but something has obviously woke them up big time, is it something Dahj/Soji did or something they found on that Cube.

As for leaving the Federation/EU  If someone spends all their time telling me I cant do something it pretty much confirms that I can, otherwise they wouldn't feel the need to keep telling me I cant, actions and words prompted by fear always end up having the opposite effect.

I paid close attention to all the dialogue after reading some comments, I didn't have any problems with any of it really.

It all flowed pretty well.
Indeed, having the actress use her native slang made it flow more naturally, as opposed to those times when "fuck " was said.

I dont mind expletive use in TV as long as its appropriate to the intensity of the situation.

Hence why Tillys was ok as it was demonstrating her surprise and shock.

The context in Picard was different as Laris was chiding her own people rather than showing surprise or shock.

All of which is fine, when normal words wont suffice then just swear it out as expletives are just as much a part of the english language as any other.

I have also seen the term fooker used as well and focker, even though its pronounced slightly different we all know what they mean.

I agree with both Tilly's and Clancy's dropping of the F-bomb.

When I was in my teens and early-20s, I'd drop an F-bomb just to show off. As a fourth-year cadet, and the equivalent of a senior in college and probably in her early-20s, Tilly was trying to show off a little, she got a little too chummy with Burnham and Stamets, and then she just got carried away. Before she realized what she was doing. This rings true for someone that age, whether people here want to admit it or not. Think back to when you were younger.

But nowadays, if I drop an F-bomb, it's because I'm just fucking pissed off. Just like Clancy was at Picard. It feels more natural because it's supposed to be more natural. Tilly's was more awkward because Tilly herself is awkward.

I stand by both of their uses because of the context of each.

Still waiting for someone to show where I said conspiracy theories should be criminalized...
Might I suggest that you take that conversation over to The Neutral Zone Forum (where it belongs) and wait there.
It really has little to NO connection to talking points about this episode of PICARD.

You went waaaay off on a tangent.

I'll have you know I've been 40 years old since I was born.

Well we all remember the Romulan plan in TNG to infiltrate Federation society thru Vulcan. I suspect the Commodore may be a part of that. Is she a Vulcan? Section 31 operative? A Romulan? IDK. Clearly the Lt who is the sister of Narek is Romulan despite her rounded ears. Not surprisingly, the Romulan Blade Runners are part of an Op, possibly a Section 31/Tal Shiar operation.
I think the Commodore is a Vulcan, the "brother" of Narek says he is an ally, that indicates that he is not part of his organization only an ally.I guess commodore oh is the new chief of section 31! I like it I think a vulcan would find the work of section 31 logical!

Kurtzman seems to have forgotten that the Tal Shiar is the Romulan secret organization so they invented and even more secret one.
Did HE write it
