This was quite the interesting episode with all the background story that is set up. Lots of Romulan lore that we had not heard before, which was cool. It was a slower episode but there was a lot happening. The opening sequence on Mars was interesting and also raises more questions.

I think there's areas of the ship of that still have not been "claimed" where there's still active Borg who could assimilate you if you're not careful.

Or dormant mechanisms that might suddenly activate and inject you with nanoprobes.

Well, that's what Narek did with Soji for sure!

Once again, it dropped just after 11pm GMT in the UK. I haven't caught up with the thread (so excuse me when I undoubtedly go over thoughts that have already been mentioned), but I gave it an 8. For reference, I would have given episode 1 a 10 if it's thread had a 10 point option, and I feel I generally give 8s out at any episode that kept me entertained throughout, without boring or annoying me. Anything higher is special. I found that this week met my high expectations rather than massively exceeding them, like the first episode did.

First thought... definitely sounds like Geordi is alive based on Zhaban bringing him up as a potential asset to Picard... whilst he isn't among my favourite characters, I think LeVar himself is great, so I'm glad they've at least kept the potential for his return in spite of the speculation he might have been killed in the attack on Mars.

Before this episode, I kind of expected the Borg to have been pretty much defeated, but it certainly doesn't sound that way.

Romulan Section 31... perhaps they have had dealings with control... :klingon:

Yeah, I mean, I thought she was really Romulan based on facial expressions (in spite of the IDIC to suggest otherwise) when she was talking to the Admiral, but after that last scene with the Romulan agents, I wasn't so sure.

Yeah, some cubs have over 100K drones on them. If the Romulans are really going through and disassembling, collecting stuff from each drone, that could take a while.

If there are Romulans in Starfleet it’s odd to me they’d have had enough time to advance to Commodore.

Does anyone else keep seeing Jennifer Lawrence for a second in Daj?

So with the mentions of Riker, Worf, and La Forge being alive... Is that a possible subtext that Crusher isn't? I know it wasn't an extensive list, but she was one of the first ones he went to in "All Good Things...", and that's in a reality where she was his ex-wife.

Dahj is chronologically three years old.

Three years is approximately the amount of time it takes for an organism to fully mature in a Borg maturation chamber (give or take a year).

Could Dr. Maddox be using Borg maturation technology to create these "synths"?

Better than assimilation though it's not an encouraging thought.

Don’t the Borg always come back to reclaim their property? Those Romulans are living on borrowed time.

Not if they've been cut off from the Collective, like the Borg cube with the kids in Voyager's "Collective."

Forgot to mention: The ep gets one demerit for not including the dog! :)

I know Picard is bound to leave Number One behind once he takes off into space, but they've couldn't have squeezed some cute doggie business into all that drama at Chateau Picard? He didn't even show up to meet Dr. Jurati when she visits.

I've read some very vitriolic reviews over at Trekmovie. I really don't understand the fan base anymore. Too fast, too slow, not enough fan service, too much fan service. It's extremely depressing.

I think this is seminal Trek, and the best iteration of the current modus operandi we will see under Kurtzman. It's also clear that Picard will die at the end of the run and his last mission is to repay the debt he feels he owes to Data.

There are some very angry people in Trekdom, one wonders why they even bother if they've already made up their mind. I don't like The Orville but I don't pull it apart at every opportunity I get - I fully appreciate that it is horses for courses.

And I disagree. Since they only call her an ally. I think she’s just a synth hating Vulcan, an ally of convenience.

That’s the issue when you get rid of the brows. People don’t know which is which.
    That was probably intentional.

Stewart has said that the two dogs They got for the show were lovely, but absolutely NOT the best 'actors' to work with.
Apparently, both were rescues and had very little patience for the time it takes to film a TV show.

    Essentially, Doggie Prima Donna's.
