Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

You know, I was never that invested in Star Trek: Picard success until now. I mean, I was looking forward to it obviously, just not jumping up and down waiting for it (maybe kinda). TNG was just never my Trek.

Just did a search for Picard on youtube and about 3-4 absurdly negative youtubers show up, all predicting it'll suck, with a sizeable amount of commentators agreeing with them. You know the type I'm sure.

I am now fully invested and hope Picard is a whirlwind success.

These Youtubers were doing their thing trashing Discovery before it even aired its first episode. They'll trash any and all new Star Trek because they appeal to a specific viewer (the not my Star Trek type). However, Discovery was so successful that it has spawned multiple new Trek shows including Picard. I recommend ignoring these Youtubers as they represent 0.1% of the fanbase.

Discouraging, isn't it? If you want good Trek YouTubers, there's a growing alliance of actually reasonable people who--can you imagine?--create content and critique Discovery/Picard without the profoundly toxic discourse of the ones I'm sure you encountered. Ketwolski and Jesse Gender in particular come to mind. I can agree and/or disagree with them without feeling like they violate the basic tenets of Trek.

Does anyone know if promo codes also work for returning subscribers, or just for new ones?
Depends on how long you've been away.
I quit for a couple of months back in August, and They sent me a "Try Us Again - Two Month's for the Price of One" Offer just after Thanksgiving.
But I quit again this month, just can't afford it at this time.

How do we feel about TrekYards on here? I like them, and find myself agreeing with a lot of their analysis. They don’t suffer from the crazy right-wing nonsense that so many others do (and which is completely at odds with Star Trek as a whole).

They tend to be a bit too fan-wanky even for me.
I use to subscribe, but they go off on too many rants and tangents for my tastes.

I used to like them until they got really buddy buddy with peters. Since then don't watch them.
