Personally, I would have preferred something different. I don't know what, but I think they could have come up with something better than a near rehash of the DS9/Voyager uniforms.

Maybe they just wanted something simple because Starfleet won't be a big focus. Maybe they just wanted something identifiable so that the audience could focus on other things. Who knows…

I like what I've seen of them.

Though we do end up seeing the season three thru seven TNG uniforms in flashbacks.

I like them. They're not my favorite but they get the job done. Starfleet's not the main focus of the series, so no need to go all out.

The only problem is the odd loose collar
Yeah. That is one thing I don't like. Makes it look like its badly tailored.

And I liked the grey uniform. So I would have preferred something like the Star Trek Online Odyssey uniforms instead. Grey shoulders with a colored stripe. Would have fit with the Admiral uniform we see on Picard.

They look fine to me. They're a deliberate throwback to the 90's in style and loose fit. They're also taken straight from the 2009 Countdown comic (itself from early Star Trek Online concept art, IIRC), which is really cool. I like that modern Trek isn't afraid to just pluck things from non-canon or unused concept sources and feature them.

They could have gone all-out, like what they managed in 1982, with an entirely new design that worked because it was bold and very well-designed. (Yes, 1979 revealed a new design as well... it wasn't the best but at least they tried. To be fair, 1987 appealed to me only because of the cool angles tailored in. The reversion to the three-color, RGB ensemble felt like a step backward -- despite cementing its iconic status as a result and not because TOS's RGB outfits were there mostly to hawk new color TVs. But that RGB ensemble is still far better than 2001's blue barf...)

I like PIC'd design but one could still argue they could have been more creative and inspired than waffling through a comic book and using it near-verbatim, to the point that some of the source material (e.g. gray with red piping and angled pips looked better) I'll agree.

Picard's Admiral uniform looks great. It's a stylish homage to TNG/DS9 costumes and I like the return of the bright colors. It's more clever than anything Bob Blackman ever designed.

The junior officer uniforms however look a little strange. I don't like that shoulder segment forms a square in front the chest and the collars are too loose.

I wish they had designed something more this.

Personally, I was a little disappointed to see the uniforms go backwards in design, although I guess they do mesh with the way designs appear to have gone post-NEM (if we are to take the Lower Decks uniform as the first redesign from the NEM uniforms).

Countdown uniforms were mostly gray, had the opposite cutout in the center of the colored part, a stiff collar, and an additional area below the colored part for the rank.

I'd agree with what you're saying about the uniforms normally, but I'd prefer if they did that in a series where Starfleet was actually the main focus, not here.

Uh, anyways.

I like the new uniforms. I like the return to bright colors, the Dominion War version was always too dark and brooding for my taste. I like the new combadge, it's a fun nod towards All Good Things. And I actually like the loose collar, it looks way more comfortable than the standard turtlenecks.

I think Starfleet went "darker" during the Dominion War since the bright colors put a target on each officer. The brighter colors always looked better and complemented the sets better in my view, especially on DS9.

I think thematically going with the bright uniforms again works well for the series, because I get the idea that Starfleet wants to put on the public image that "all is well" even if there's stuff bubbling under the surface.

I agree. I think the uniforms are meant to call back to the age of exploration, rather than the Dominion War. Going to that style makes sense to me.

i'm intrigued by the glimpses of the admiral's uniform in the trailer:

a kind of first contact/TNG hybrid with dark shoulders and pants, gray midsection, and division color collar or undershirt. it looks different enough to be interesting.

but given how textured and cool the civilian clothing is in the show, i'm a little dismayed by the DS9/voyager uniform retread that appears to be the standard duty uniform. i also do not like that the combadge is a modified AGT insignia.

True proof that one can't please every fan, as I'm sure they did that deliberately to satisfy some of the more die hard amongst us, haha.
it's kind of an interesting turnaround from discovery where the producers wanted everything redesigned despite continuity to picard where they have retained certain things despite the fact that, in continuity, they're free to redesign anything.
