I fail to see why the father couldn’t meet the daughter. Mars isn’t that far away. She could come to him in about 30 minutes or so.
This is what comfortable off-duty wear is going to look like in the future... (and everybody is going to have a tan)
He pretty much indicated that he couldn't get the time off from his job "...this year..." and I rather doubt that Star Fleet lets children wander around an active starship assembly yard.
I've often wondered if the two of them had either just left or were going into a TOS Holodeck/Rec room.
Well we know from b'elanna torres that deadbeat dads still exist in the 24th century. Maybe he just didn't want to take time off
What with the way people are being killed off (Geordi, Data), Picard is going to wind up having an Enterprise reunion in a phone booth!
Yep. Some clothes are just utilitarian, too. Overalls make sense if you're a farmer, or someone who works with their hands and needs pockets. T-shirts, shorts, all help cool you off in heat. Dresses? Robes in some form have been around for millennia. They're low tech, simple ways to do things. I much prefer they don't try to be super futuristic too hard, lest it come off like a Buck Rogers or Space: 1999. I like how TOS handled it, I like how TNG, DS9, and VOY handled it. ENT's designs made sense, too. Just keep it simple. Simple works.
Yeah but he’s not going to be working all that time, and Mars is more than just a ship yard. Hell, at that point I wouldn’t be surprised if they could beam from Earth to Mars.
No way do they kill Geordi offscreen. Especially since we proved that they ARE killing Chocatay offscreen later on. Jason
One needs to take note that he was specifically talking about not having the Holiday off. (First Contact Day) Not that he wasn't going to be available for a long period of time. That's why Lil was disappointed and pizzed.
Perhaps but it’s still only Mars. Those ships must have been in the docks since the 2250’s. I don’t think a day off would hurt.
Back to the Future Part II had the best futuristic clothing. Power laces on shoes and self-drying jackets? Sign me up for that. And don't forget to vote for Goldie Wilson III for Mayor!
