So, just got an email saying that Eaglemoss was finally sending the Spacedock special (after I've already purchased one when they skipped over it nearly a year-and-a-half ago). Time to warm up the old eBay account!

The screen-used model in Discovery is gray.
The STO model shown in the Trekyards video is gray as well.
So why is the Eaglemoss version dark green? It almost looks like a Romulan ship.
Because the people in charge of Star Trek for the last 30 years seem to think that all Klingon ships have to be green regardless of what time period they’re from?
The STO model has a slight green tint. It’s more noticeable in game.The screen-used model in Discovery is gray.

The renders of the D7 on eaglemoss’s cover is also green, and that’s the show used model they use for those renders.
In the VFX reel for the final episode, the D7s also look green, though the same shade as STO, not as dark as Eaglemoss.
I think Eaglemoss’s colour is too dark, but the ship isn’t a flat grey.
You could always ask Ben Robinson on twitter, though I imagine he’ll just say ‘that’s what CBS gave us”
Maybe CBS gave them the wrong model? Perhaps earlier on in development the ship was that green, but was changed for the final episodes.

And yeah, there are a couple of models I have in mind that could really benefit from a little wash bringing out more of the details, like the Romulan Valdore Warbird, the Cardassian ships, the Breen and Vidiian warships and the Bajoran Raider. All of them have lovely details and greebles, but look totally flat.

Will be interesting to see if in the magazine they'll acknowledge at all the obvious influence of the Original Series Preservers design in the Ba'ul ships. Always seemed like such a telltale vestige to me that the original story behind them was going to be something different in Discovery.from the facebook fan group, the booklet for the discovery launch pod spinner thing shows the ba'ul fighter as an upcoming issue:
Is it supposed to be the hologram version? It has gridwork all over it, like it was made for Automan or something.

Something special arrived in the mail today. After two and a half weeks, the Enterprise-F and the Bonaventure have finally arrived. The models and magazines still cold from being out in the mailman's bag! (They'll warm up soon enough). I got a NASTY surprise when I had to pay an additional $30 CAD at the door for this. It happened once before when I ordered a couple of ships on ebay a year and a half ago from somewhere in the US. Even the mailman wasn't sure what the criteria is. That was annoying considering how much I'd already paid for these. (Could've gotten that bundle of the first two shuttle sets for how much I ultimately paid!). Oh well.
I'm happy to say no flaws or broken parts. I went with the traditional gray "F", rather than the black and white STO version. I think I was initally more looking forward to the Bonaventure, but the "F" looks really nice. Gotta find an appropriate spot for these.
The Bonaventure looks really nice too, though. It's nice to have at least a semi-canon TOS-era Starfleet design (since it's pretty much the Connie and the boxy Antares).

you're so right, there are so many avenues the show seemed like it could go down that it just didn't.
ryan dening mentioned the intentional observer influence in the ba'ul designs at one of the conventions recently, so there's a good chance it'll come up in a magazine. honestly, i was surprised he mentioned the USS vengeance in the stealth ship interview... so much of the kelvin timeline is swept under the rug...

I think the Short Trek's FX was finished before the actual series, as those kite shaped fighters in the Short Trek are missing Starfleet Deltas that you can see on them in the actual Picard series trailers.
Though I'm not sure what any of this has to do with this thread? This is about the models models, not the shows.
If they only reuse Discovery ships, the Picard collection can be cancelled and some of us are going to save a lot of money
True that. I REALLY hope they don't do that, though. Not for the Eaglemoss thing, but yeah that would be stupid lazy.
Then again, if Picard is hurting for a ship to get somewhere, stealing one of those old jalopies in permanent parking orbit would be easier than when Kirk jacked the Enterprise out of SD-01. It could make some sense within the context of the story. If they just throw them in there as active ships to save budget? Nope. Epic fail...

We contacted the shop where my DSC Connie came from about the dislocated nacelle, and they just gave us a full in store credit for the price, and just let us keep the model. Find by me lol, the nacelle isn’t that hard to fix anyways. Just a bit of glue.
