Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

I think some of the shots with the romulan ships attacking and seven holding the dead guy are getting old. Also Dahj fighting the bad guy on the roof at Starfleet headquarters Use some new footage for previews Paramount.

They’re using the footage to pull in non-Trekkies, who won’t have been studying these trailers in the same depth as us fans, so they don’t need to give more footage.

They already know that you and I are going to watch the show, so why would they spoil more of the show just to give us something else to pull apart for the next 2.5 weeks?

I watched the first Disco trailers again, and they showed mostly stuff from the first 3 episodes, with only 2 brief lines from MTMTSMGM

Is it this trailer?

Picard saying: "In the face of a powerful enemy. Tens of thousands are dead. But I have a mission which means a lot of people will try to stop me"

It actually says:

We face a powerful enemy. Tens of thousands are dead. But I have a mission, which means there's not a chance for somebody to stop it.

The last line is kinda nonsensical. It seems like this is pasted together from out-of-context audio, rather than being a set of sequential lines directly from the show.

About ten of thousands dead that it looks like that some Romulan faction is behind it and maybe uasing borg tech with their weapons to make it more destructive when they attacked the planet
Yes Picard Jean Luc That's the video I watched the other day. what I thought too when I saw the video yesterday.I also agree with Eschaton the last Picard says in that video.

No doubt that in the future, people will have the same interest in whatever is retro, so if Starfleet's not using original DSC-era shuttles in PIC, maybe they put them back on the production line. The VW van/bus/microbus/beetle and DeLorean are back, to use some current examples.

I want one of these...

Manu tweeted:

Judging from this tweet, I'm assuming that Icheb is going to be alive and kicking at some point down the road. (It would've been rather morbid to announce on Twitter, "HEY! I DIE IN SEASON ONE!" )

If Icheb is going to die in S1, why bother with Manu? They would've just used a body double.
I dunno, Seven makes sense, Hugh makes sense. Now Icheb? Let's bring back all the Borg, what are queens (version 1 and version 2) up to? What about that guy that was helping Lore in Decent, what's he upto? Bring them all back...
I dunno, there is something to be said about doing more with less

Star Trek: Picard is probably the most excited I've been about an upcoming Trek project since 1987. Brings back a lot of fond memories from when I was 16 and watching the build up to TNG.

They've definitely pushed a lot of the right buttons with the advertising.

Nostalgia is a very powerful marketing tool. Plus they learned a lot of from Discovery and really toned down the "new and improved" look (ahem Klingons...) and the whole "this is Star Trek for younger generation"
So, it appears, we really are getting a continuation of Star Trek that most everyone loves and can't wait for, updated for 21st century. I'm trying to hedge my enthusiasm, but I'm failing miserably. Is it 23rd yet?

Century or Day?

Either way you've still got a bit of a wait.
:nyah:

Seeing Pike was my 20 year Trek dream come true.

I had already seen a variation of the character in the Abrams movies (and they did a really nice job with the character in the Early Voyages comic series). The only thing they really hit a home run with on him was in "If Memory Serves...". Other than that, he was mostly a generic Starfleet captain. At least to me.

It was awkward how easily he gave up on Cornwell in "Such Sweet Sorrow". It was pretty bad.

I mean, it wasn't perfect, but I've wanted to see Pike more since I was 13. And he doesn't feel like a generic Starfleet captain. Honestly, he is, to me, what many consider Picard-an ideal captain that I actually want to work with.

And, if I had just had him in 09 then it would have been fine. But, his end in Into Darkness was a little disappointing. So, having this character explored far more is incredibly appealing.

And, yeah, that moment was bad. Doesn't mess up the rest that was great.

YMMV.

Definitely a mileage may vary kinda situation. :techman:

As a fan of the Pike character, I can't recommend highly enough Star Trek: Early Voyages.
