Who is General Star-Trek Picard? Some long lost relative? Why does he have a show?
Not far off. Picard looks kind of like Dwight Eisenhower.

I think some of the shots with the romulan ships attacking and seven holding the dead guy are getting old. Also Dahj fighting the bad guy on the roof at Starfleet headquarters Use some new footage for previews Paramount.
Is it this trailer?
Picard saying: "In the face of a powerful enemy. Tens of thousands are dead. But I have a mission which means a lot of people will try to stop me"
You mean version 8, next version, version 10 put it back. And don't ask me what happened to version 9, no one knowsIt’s still LCARS, but version 10 came out and did away with the start menu
I want one of these...No doubt that in the future, people will have the same interest in whatever is retro, so if Starfleet's not using original DSC-era shuttles in PIC, maybe they put them back on the production line. The VW van/bus/microbus/beetle and DeLorean are back, to use some current examples.

I dunno, Seven makes sense, Hugh makes sense. Now Icheb? Let's bring back all the Borg, what are queens (version 1 and version 2) up to? What about that guy that was helping Lore in Decent, what's he upto? Bring them all back...Manu tweeted:

Judging from this tweet, I'm assuming that Icheb is going to be alive and kicking at some point down the road. (It would've been rather morbid to announce on Twitter, "HEY! I DIE IN SEASON ONE!")
If Icheb is going to die in S1, why bother with Manu? They would've just used a body double.
NO spoilers after premier. Don't even post any spoiler threads. Do NOT make me put you on Ignore. I'm not even kidding..Just got confirmation of my tickets for the UK premiere of this, next Wednesday. Can’t wait - just got to speed through this next week, now!
Nostalgia is a very powerful marketing tool. Plus they learned a lot of from Discovery and really toned down the "new and improved" look (ahem Klingons...) and the whole "this is Star Trek for younger generation"Star Trek: Picard is probably the most excited I've been about an upcoming Trek project since 1987. Brings back a lot of fond memories from when I was 16 and watching the build up to TNG.
They've definitely pushed a lot of the right buttons with the advertising.
That does not appear to be what Picard is trying to do.I dunno, there is something to be said about doing more with less

So, it appears, we really are getting a continuation of Star Trek that most everyone loves and can't wait for, updated for 21st century. I'm trying to hedge my enthusiasm, but I'm failing miserably. Is it 23rd yet?
Seeing Pike was my 20 year Trek dream come true.
I mean, it wasn't perfect, but I've wanted to see Pike more since I was 13. And he doesn't feel like a generic Starfleet captain. Honestly, he is, to me, what many consider Picard-an ideal captain that I actually want to work with.I had already seen a variation of the character in the Abrams movies (and they did a really nice job with the character in the Early Voyages comic series). The only thing they really hit a home run with on him was in "If Memory Serves...". Other than that, he was mostly a generic Starfleet captain. At least to me.
It was awkward how easily he gave up on Cornwell in "Such Sweet Sorrow". It was pretty bad.

And, if I had just had him in 09 then it would have been fine. But, his end in Into Darkness was a little disappointing. So, having this character explored far more is incredibly appealing.
And, yeah, that moment was bad. Doesn't mess up the rest that was great.
YMMV.
I'm hoping to pick it up soon. It's definitely on my list to read this year.Definitely a mileage may vary kinda situation.
As a fan of the Pike character, I can't recommend highly enough Star Trek: Early Voyages.
