Wow, ever since TNG introduced a different look for the Romulans to differentiate them from the Vulcans, I've seen non-stop bitching about how it was pointless, idiotic, insulting, flagrantly against Gene's Vision, and the cause of cancer. Now they've gone back to having them look the same, and there's bitching about that. Ah, Trek Fandom.

Nothing if not consistent in its inconsistent demands.

It really is. Romulans are angry Vulcans. They're not another species, they're an angry splinter group. Making them look different is watering down the concept for viewers unable to pick up on basic clues.
