Big deal on all of that: the later DC Entertainment/Warner Animation shows from Justice League onward have some of what was mentioned in the latter part of your comment, and the reason neither Cap or Shellhead were in AUTS was because a Cap show was supposed to be in production, and he was being kept for that show (plus there had already been two Iron Man cartoons.)

Just watched the 5 part opening arc for Gargoyles, and I can see why people seem to love it so much, it was great. There is just one thing I was a little confused by,
why exactly did Xanatos fake the theft of the discs and have the gargoyles steal them?

Been a month since I rewatched that part but I'm pretty sure what the Gargoyles stole weren't actually those discs. They were other discs owned by a different company that contained information Xanatos wanted. The fake theft was just a ruse to trick the Gargoyles into doing his dirty work.

I'm pretty sure Eliza said the company that had the discs was owned by Xanatos.

    The transcript says:

Where have you been? l've been looking all over town for you.
    - Why? - Three Cyberbiotics installations have reported robberies by some kind of creatures, and l saw you and another gargoyle flying away from the plane wreck.
    - What's this all about, Goliath? - The disks were stolen from Xanatos.
    We returned them to him.
Remember this? l traced that emblem.
lt's the logo of a robotics firm that's owned by - are you ready? - Xanatos Enterprises.
Are you saying that Xanatos is responsible for the attack in the park? That's exactly what l'm saying.
He probably planted that bug on you himself.
But those were the same men who stole the disks from him.
    Goliath, nothing was stolen.
    l checked.
    Those disks were Cyberbiotics' property.
He must have staged the theft to trick you into stealing the disks.
    He used you.
He's been using you from the beginning.
    Listen, Goliath.
    --
l'm afraid the gargoyles have outlived their usefulness.
l can't count on their loyalty.
But now, with the data on those disks, l can bring their replacements on line.

Looking at the transcript, it does seem a bit confusing. Eliza says that the disks belong to Cyberbiotics, and she says the logo (and therefore the 'thieves') belongs to a cybernetics company owned by Xanatos, but she doesn't say that company is Cyberbiotics. So it could still be that Xanatos faked the theft of fake disks to get the Gargoyles to steal the real disks, but then she also says 'Nothing was stolen' because 'those disks are cyberbiotics' property'. That's at best an awkward phrasing which kind of implies Xanatos stole them and Cyberbiotics stole them back, which doesn't fit the rest. But it could also be taken to mean that Eliza checked up specifically on the disks that the Gargoyles stole, and not the original ones - in which case everything does fit. The Gargoyles stole Cyberbiotics' disks which had never been anywhere else but in Cyberbiotics' labs after Xanatos tricked them into thinking Cyberbiotics had stolen the disks from him.

Yeah, reading it a third time that definitely has to be what they were going for - they just got a little turned around in the phrasing. Nothing else makes sense once you take into account what Xanatos says about finally being able to finish his plan now that he has the data on the disks

Just found out Disney is moving WandaVision to a 2020 release date. Disney+ posted a trailer on their facebook page but I'm not sure how to bring it over here. I'm excited for this news. Of all the MCU shows coming to the service, I was mostly looking forward to WandaVision, mainly because I like Olsen as an actress. I guess I need to rewatch all of her big movies. I know Avengers Age of Ultron was probably her biggest but I don't really remember the others.

I am actually intrigued by that Emma Stone Cruella movie (which I initially thought was a series) but apparently that's not til 2021.

Disney has posted a video of all the stuff coming to Disney+ in January. It actually does seem to be a little bit different from the list they distributed a few weeks ago.

Most notable is that Lamp Life (the Toy Story 4 prequel short) is coming on January 31.

I had completely forgotten about that Red Tails movie until they showed a few seconds of it here.

P.S. -- Short Circuit is a series of very short films from various Disney animators. The article I saw said they'd average 2 minutes in length and there'd be 20 or more of them. Whether all 20 will be dropped at once here, I have no clue.

my biggest fear about the D= service will likely come to pass: Disney will soon be skipping the DVD/ Blu ray publication step and only put their films on the service.

Makes perfect sense. And it bugs me to no end

I can't see them going that route, even the streaming services like Netflix and Hulu release their stuff on DVD/Blu-Ray. They have to realize that not everyone is subscribed to the streaming services, and they're going to want to get their money too. I wouldn't be surprised if there were also some people who subscribe to the services who like to have the physical media in case they want to watch the movie/show/whatever somewhere where they don't have internet.

Indeed. Eliminating physical media would seriously limit Disney's market range and I can't see them doing that. A lot of people, especially those with lower incomes, aren't streaming any services and prefer physical media, whether it's through purchase, rental, or library.

Yeah, we won't see the end of physical media until the market for it is so small there's no longer a profit in it.

^ That's exactly why I don't get people who mock physical media saying it's 100% dead and make out streaming services are everything. When things like that happen you're just force fed things to watch. It's like choosing to eat only from McDonalds' menu every single day. God forbid I'd like to eat other things, and do so knowing I can do it whenever I want

I like and prefer physical media.. but publishing and pressing disks and their cases is a lot of money and (faster than expected) people aren't buying them and they just ask if a film is streaming. Aside form certain cult classics and targeting a niche market of collectors, I don't see why Disney would want the extra expense for much of their catalog.. when they could control everything using the streaming service they just spend probably tens of millions setting up. You want to watch Dr Strange 2 after it's in theaters? Well the ONLY place to do it is on D+.

I often buy some of my favorite movies through Amazon streaming. Yes, these purchases will only last as long as Amazon exists as an entity, but I at least keep access after amazon loses the right to sell additional streaming licenses to customers.

As for Disney+, my wife and I noticed that Home Alone 2 was no longer available after the new year, so we instead bought a streaming copy of The Good Son (with Mucaulay Culkin) from Amazon.
