As fan of Finn I have to say say this is sadly true. Especially in TLJ in which the stereotyping of goofy and cowardly got worse.

It was like seeing g a film in the 80's or 90' s.

That's what happens when the most socially progressive people on the face of the earth--or so they keep reminding everyone--reveal their true agenda. They checked the "black / points" box, but used Finn to sell a decades-old entertainment business stereotype of the Black Fool character. Of course, no one behind the sequel trilogy knows a damn thig about creating a realistic black male character with his own identity/purpose and part in that universe, and they did not care to find anyone to contribute to their "story" (if anyone can describe it as that) who would remove the minstrel and replace him with a man.

They did not care to in their crusade to promote nearly every other type of demographic.

They filtered what was accurate on Reddit by confirming it with their own sources. What they confirmed ended up being true.

Keep in mind, those who relentlessly lie to themselves about script/production information/leaks, etc. which turn out to be true do so because of agenda--as in hating sources that do not fall on bended knee ready to buy whatever certain studios or producers lay on the check out counter, so to speak.

Placing any bias aside, Midnight's Edge got it right.

Yes, they did and they were not alone. Whether some want to accept the cold reality of it all or not, a growing number of individuals/channels have their legitimate contacts & sources. There's rarely any "tower of silence" anymore regarding entertainment, politics or anything else, so all of the constant ad hominem BS about Midnight's Edge and similar channels is simply a case of obvious denial in the face of several leaks being undeniably true, particularly when there's evidence of negative reactions to certain films.

*SPOILERS*

Yeah, I know the thread warns everyone, but still.

I liked it. Some parts were definitely stretching the story/plot a little thin for me, but I loved the characters, and their chemistry together.

I am personally glad that Ben came back into the fold. Palpatine or a clone? Eh, that's fine. I always figured he was one of those people who wouldn't really die and would just nasty away, still a nice surprise.

I enjoyed the kiss between Ben and Rey at the end, but then I'm a hopeless romantic who is always interested in the redemption of those who believe themselves irredeemably evil. As for Rey, her lineage did catch me off guard, but it was actually really cool, and explained a great deal about her abilities. I did cry during Leia's final scene because, well, obvious reasons and all of that.

The space battles don't really interest me, so the lack of a final showdown between capital ships didn't bother me at all. For me the core of Star Wars has always been the characters, and in that respect it was a winner. I think it's a good entry in the Star Wars universe, and gave it an A-.

It was fine. It was fun. It's a Star Wars story a couple of twelve-year-olds would dream up on the playground.

It's safe, nostalgic, fan-service that will make a lot of people happy. Just turn off your brain and enjoy the ride.

These modern Star Wars movie reviews. It’s either ‘you just need to turn off your brain and enjoy it’ or ‘you really need to see it a few times to appreciate everything.’

Sometimes, I believe, people hold movies like these to too high of a standard.
Usually to the point of unreason. It's okay to have very high standards for a movie, but then there are people who have a headcanon that must be matched action for action and word for word, and if the film doesn't do this, it's a travesty and mockery of everything sacred.

(That's not referring to you, @HugeLobes, just a general comment)

Sure, again I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with either position. I just think it’s kinda funny that people are splitting this way and also maybe a little telling.

The only thing it really tells, is that you’ll never make everyone happy. No matter how hard you try.

No, I don’t think so. As much as some people do hold these movies to unacceptably high standards, I think others take any Star Wars and try their best to like it simply because they love the franchise. So you get a lot of either ‘it’s too complicated’ or ‘people are taking it too seriously’, which are both handy little lines that somewhat sidestep whether or not the movie was actually good. And they do so in wildly dissimilar ways.

I think in general we probably all take this a little too seriously. Whether it be from being overly critical or having one's own preconceived notions about how we believe events occur or taking other's criticisms of films we enjoy too harshly. I am not perfect and I have certainly had my areas of weakness when it comes to criticisms of these movies too hard. I really don't think its up to us to decide for another individual if a movie is categorically "good" or "bad." We all have our thresholds of quality and I think we all could stand to work a little harder to accept contrary opinions with a little more acceptance.

I know that ten years ago (has it already been that long?!), I had to take a serious step back after the release of Star Trek (2009). Star Trek is, by far, my favorite franchise and anyone that pays attention knows I'm still passionate about it (See: Discovery forum).

I went out of my way to make a total ass out of myself back then, a truly special ass. I had already seen the film twice, enjoying it immensely in the theater both times I had been. Though I would come here and get caught up in the "shitting on Roddenberry's grave", "OMG, the plot holes!!!" and other such non-sense. Even to the point I was arguing about a line about communications being down that I had somehow missed twice in the theater.

At that point, I decided I would rate movies on how much they entertained me.
