Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

Geordi, Raffi, and various background characters on Utopia Planitia and the Verity are wearing them.

Unless we actually see those people in the show wearing those uniforms in a flashback scene, it's not canon. Just like with the Verity being an Odyssey class ship, the comic artists probably just extrapolated things based on the information they had at their disposal (i.e. Picard's admiral uniform = 2385 duty uniform because there's no other evidence to the contrary yet.)

I'm a little disappointed they didn't use the Lower Decks uniforms. It's supposed to be canon, and using the uniforms in the Picard comic and if there are flashbacks, the show, would have been a nice way to really show people they mean it.

I agree, but there's still about a five year period in which the Lower Decks uniform could have been the main uniform fleetwide before phasing out. That's pretty short, but about as long as the TOS uniform or the revised TNG uniform. What's most odd is that the combadge has reverted to the previous design.

They made at least one costume that looks like that, and I can't imagine he'll be the only one in whatever scenes it appears in.
Admirals uniforms do not always look like standard duty uniforms. Certainly early TNG featured an interesting variety. So, I remain skeptical that the standard duty uniform will look like an admiral's uniform.

The admirals' uniforms we see in both VOY and the TNG films look completely bland and similar to those of all other ranks. It's basically like someone cut the costume department's budget and said "Add extra pips for rank as needed."

It is also the case that an admiral probably has the luxury to choose what type of uniform to wear.

It does make a tad nervous how much Stewart's creative control is being played up in these interviews. All will be revealed soon enough...

I'm really happy because I've seen a lot of positive hype for this. I always love it when the Trek fandom is happy:)

The funny thing is, I watched this video immediately before I came here and found this as a coincidence.

The Federation definitely had to have changed. It was changing as early as DS9. If nothing else, I never thought for a second that it would ever go back to way it was before the Dominion War. Picard will probably go with how the Federation has changed in general and might not go with the Dominion angle but the end result is the same.

This Picard convention news about the new Characters is really intriguing. It's nice that Jonathan Del Arco gave us some info about Hugh wanting to help Picard and find out how his storyarc unfolds.
