    I remember Dark Frontier. :borg:

Voyager changed her. She was no longer able to be the person the Borg needed her to be.

Fair enough, everyone has their own favorite characters.

But the reason why we are seeing 7 of 9 again, is not only is she a popular character from Voyager, but her being a former Borg gives a personal stake in a Borg related story (even if its another party, like Romulan extremists using Borg tech for their own ends).

What is Neelix, Chakotay or Harry Kim's stake in this story? If they have no real stake behind being people associated with Star Fleet who want to do the right thing, they can be replaced with anyone in the franchise, they need a reason to be in the Picard show or any future show, which is what 7 of 9 has, a reason to be there. Otherwise, they could just be cameos. Heck Chakotay has a more personal grudge with the Cardassians over the Borg and the Cardassians are a nonentity by the Picard show era.

Another problem with all these characters is, they never really had a character arc in Voyager, so the vast majority of the regular Star Trek fans have no reason to care about them. Chakotay should have started out as a rebellious former rebel commander and slowly became Janeway trusty number one over time, instead it happens by episode 3, Harry Kim should do something to get promoted by season 3, giving him a character arc, where he became less green over time, instead he just stayed an Ensign the whole time and the writers gave him no real arc, why should I care if he is a captain now, when the Voyagers writers couldn't bother promoting past the rank of ensign. Neelix is still in the Delta Quadrant, so I am not sure how he could fit with this or any future show.

So the only way these characters will return is if there is a good story reason for them to return. Picard is the most incomic character from that era and 7 of 9 is a popular character who can fit in with this story, so its no wonder they are back.

They could mention Chakotay, even if it's indirectly and we don't hear his name, but I would just have Seven be his widow. We'll just say he died in a freak accident.

I mean, it depends on how much Seven is a part of this. If she's only in one episode or something, the only reference we will likely get is to Janeway(Yes, I guarantee you there will be a Janeway reference).

I hope Jeri Ryan will be in more than one episode, but according to IMDB (maybe not the most reliable of sources) she is only listed in the cast for the series opener...

You can't go by IMDB (it's primarily fan-generated).

Last I heard, she's appearing in three eps (given that there are only ten episodes in the season, that's a good amount of time).

Unless the fans are in the know... :) I have found errors with the occasional film in the past and submitted corrections. Thankfully at least that process is pretty simple.
Good the know about the additional eps too, thanks.

Not going to happen, she's too busy directing.

Nobody asked you to see it. And there's nothing wrong with said Klingons, at least now they look like actual aliens and not humans with head ridges. Also, there's no doom and gloom in the Kelvinverse Star Trek, so cut out that bullshit.

Judging from the trailers, TPTB are spending a TON of money on those ten eps.

For all intents and purposes, this is Seven of Nine's Trek feature film debut.

Said books aren't canon, and will never be canon, so there's no chance of seeing what happened in them be mentioned.

What I meant with "2010's doom and gloom" are the constant doom and gloom in almost every series made in this boring decade, not the Kelvinverse movies, even if a lot of things are messed up there.

And I still don't like the Turtleheads!

While events from the books are part of an elseworld, elements of them could appear in future Treks, especially since Voyager novelist Kirsten Beyer was the one who came up with the idea of the Picard show.

Section 31's Control AI was from the novelverse, and some names and details of the Discovery (then Shenzhou) crew were established in a Disco novel (although the rest of the novel was contradicted by season two). So you never know.

Why his widow? That would imply that Endgame was partially canon (Seven & Chakotay got married and one of them died in an accident). I don't think that producers/writers of ST: Picard really want to follow Voyager's path, especially if they read fans comments about Chakotay/Seven, which were predominantly disapproving .

Seven may have decided to leave Chakotay after a while because the existence they led did not suit her anymore to follow her path with more or less success (the fact that she doesn't wear Starfleet uniform was maybe her will or that Starfleet didn't want her), hence this outfit of savage or rebel she wore in the clip.

I can't see Seven having anything to do with Starfleet (in her mind, these were the people who tried to throw her out an airlock).

She has seen what they REALLY think of her. :shifty:

That's not because Chakotay wore Starfleet uniform that he represented Starfleet. Janeway was and she wanted Seven stay because she was one of them (meaning human) and I'm pretty sure that Seven quickly noticed the difference between Chakotay and Janeway.

Seven knew that Starfleet would NEVER have thrown one of their own (or even another human being) out an airlock.

And yet, they did not hesitate to do it to her and her ship mates. That had to have rankled her.

I suppose he could still be alive, but I doubt it.

"She just left him" is cheap, wishful thinking.

When your ship is under attack, you will do what is necessary to protect it.

    Besides, they're just drones.

Someone like Seven of Nine (namely, someone who has twenty years of military experience plus four years on Voyager) may well be eligible for a direct commission (Janeway also has the option of granting her a field commission and then backdating it to several years previously; Starfleet has the option of whether or not to continue to accept it once Voyager returns to Earth).

Now that I think about it, Seven might take a commission in Starfleet for a chance to work with Icheb (someone she cares about).
