Lore Reloaded has released has released a short video suggesting that we should not allow our views towards Alec Peters to affect our enjoyment of Axanar, if and when it comes out, and that we should allow the work to stand on it own.

What do you think? Personally what I have learned about Alec and what went on behind the scenes has most certainly ruined my enjoyment of Prelude to Axanar.

So, just ignore the guy behind the curtain with the sushi and tires?

Ok. :techman:

Hell, it looks more like an opening cutscene for a mid budget Star Trek based PC game than a film. (YMMV)
The shorts released for the Star Trek: Fleet Command mobile game are far more visually interesting than the space shots here. And because it's based on the Kelvin universe, the Federation ships look much the same as Axanar's.

Except that actually watching the fucking thing will benefit him. The higher the number of views the more likely the film will become "recommended" by the platform (like YouTube) and draw more attention to him thus helping him sucker more people into supporting his next grift. So I could possibly separate the art from the arsetist if I could see it without incidentally helping him.

Agreed, yet this is where I'm torn.
There will be good people, actors and alike who will contribute their talent because it's a project. Right now there aren't a lot of 12 minute high budget epic star trek projects going on.
Actors want to act, Writers want to write, Digital Artists want to shine.
I'm not going to hold it against anyone for working on a project like Prey Lewd, Enter lewd, After lewd, or whatever they are calling it these days.

The various Trek series have had some deeply flawed people involved in them - not least Roddenberry himself - and some awful things have happened behind the scenes, but I don't think that should ruin the enjoyment of them.

Of course Axanar is more of a one-man show.

So we have 8 months for disaster to strike, and everything to fall apart. Good to know.

Aw, hell... some people manage to walk through a mile of shit and come out the other side smelling like roses. This one seems to be able to get away with pretty much everything without any real consequences. If this project falls apart he’ll come up with something else bigger and more spectacular. Ringing Brothers would be proud.

Ringing Brothers would be proud.
It was P.T. Barnum who said "There's a sucker born every minute."

And of course, we can't forget President Abraham Lincoln: "You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time." When it comes to Alec Peters / Axanar, most of us fell into the first group; Alec holds the second group near and dear to his heart (and bank account).

I wish STO could get the funding to outsource cool CG trailers like other games. I loved SWTOR's CG trailers. Elder Scrolls Online and Warcraft usually have amazing ones as well.

^^^Exactly.

Really is anything ever being said here something that's not been said 100 times? How often do we have to act surprised or outraged that water is wet?

How hard is it to become a 501c3? He's been saying for years they are trying to become one, but there seems to have been no progress in all that time.
