If they had Rey waking up, I guarantee her it would have been done much differently then they did with Finn waking up (like a pratfalling comedian)

You say that like it's some piercing insight into the filmmaker's mind.

I bet you if they had a scene of Leia waking up it would be very different to Rey, and a scene of Han waking up would be very different to Leia, and Luke waking up would be different to Han and Kylo to luke and Anakin to Kylo, etc, etc.

Rey is a different character and, not to forget, the actual star of the movie. Of course they'd handle her differently.

What the actual fuck? Now you're whining about how people wake up? Are you just looking for shit to bitch about now?

Excuse me, I need to go take a nap in a manner most befitting an SJW with a blatant political agenda to shove down everyone's throats now.

I think, like the topic of this thread, the argument could go both ways. I could make the argument that the First Order was ignored as a threat and allowed to grow, while the New Republic stood by and did nothing.
That was the explanation they gave in the books and comics, which are now considered equal to the movie, so are fair game for this kind of conversation. The war between the Empire and the Rebellion/New Republic official ended with a treaty signed after The Battle of Jakku, and afterwards a bunch of Imperials took off for the Unknown Regions, where they built up The First Order over the next 15-20 years .
I wouldn't be surprised if some new Palpatine related twists were thrown in there in The Rise of Skywalker.
I just double checked my facts on Wookiepedia, and it says that Palpatine had spent decades setting things up in the Unknown Regions to rebuild the Empire after his death, so there was already a lot of stuff there for them by the time they started the First Order.

Rey lifted easily two tons of rocks.. not phased. at all.
This is after knocking three TIES with one shot despite never having fired the guns before
All while she is telling chewie how to fly
All after we didn't even see her get from the throne room to this scene.. nbad directing combined with mar sue powers.
i mean the most she got from the whole ordeal is a small bruise on her shoulder

:shrug:No one is being disingenuous. I don’t think that’s the word you’re looking for.

Her having emotional scars doesn’t mean that she can’t function particularly in a life or death situation. To add to that, perhaps “I like this” is because perhaps blowing shot up is a good stress relief when you’re having a rough day.

I’d mention Luke having a happy day after everyone he loves dies in ANH, but apparently criticizing Luke is off limits.

Pls don't be disingenuous. She was all "I like this!" upon miraculously showing up at the battle
This happened mere moments after Luke watched Ben get killed.

The only issues I see get repeated over and over again is the fact that Rey is a female. I'm sorry, but there is no escaping that fact. Luke does the same things as Rey, Anakin does the same things as Rey. The Mandalorian has a similar "show don't tell" style that the ST does, relying on visuals rather than expository dialog to showcase character skills. All of this has been acceptable, except for Rey.

It's absurd argumentation that gets repeated over and over and over again.
