The funny thing is that Dublin criminals are often given nicknames like that by each other and the press, the most famous being The General aka Martin Cahill, who was played by Brendan Gleeson in John Boorman’s film of that name. In fact, another one is even called The Penguin https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www....rge-the-penquin-mitchell-pension-13515562.amp

Mobster nicknames were pretty common in the US back in the '30s and '40s -- Scarface, Legs, Pretty Boy, Fat Tony, The Nose, things like that. So the colorful nicknames for comic-book supervillains probably sounded less absurd in the Golden Age than they do in retrospect. (In the same way that superhero capes probably seemed less absurd because capes and cloaks were still relatively common fashion accessories.)

Yeah, that's a pretty good first gig if she is Batgirl, but I kind of question that. I wouldn't expect her to be that old if this is all the way back at the beginning of Batman's career.

This isn't the first time he's played a manservant to a reclusive, eccentric rich man (without motion capture to boot!): He was terrific in The Prestige.

That's actually my favorite Andy Serkis role. "It amazes me how many of you newspaper writers fail to read my sign!"

Speaking of Pattinson, I just saw The Lighthouse. It's a strange mix of genuine good acting alongside Pattinson's skill at doing facial expressions that no actual human being would ever make.

Check him out in Netflix's "The King" as the Dauphin of France.

Wow, he really is putting together a pretty unexpected cast for this, I love it.
