Watching Buck Rogers In The 25th Century

I remember watching this when I was 9 years old. I had gotten the free Burger King poster the week of the premier. Even at 9 years old I remember it was hard not to continually stare at Wilma's backside in that spandex. Just awesome. :D

I do have the set on DVD. It is indeed a goofy show but still fun for what it is and I will always be a fan of it.

Oh OK I meant Downsizing though, if you've seen that just how bad is it?
That WAS Downsizing.

As for the movie, it was very "middle of the road" which is why I agreed with your "meh" comment. The trailer made it seem more interesting than it actually was (what trailer doesn't?), but on the other hand, it wasn't a bad movie. Although I don't remember how it ends if that means anything.

I'd recommend, if you're curious, watch it at least once. It can't hurt, and for all I know, you might like it more than I did.

I might do that. To me the trailer made me very curious about it and I like Matt Damon so that almost made me go see it too, almost. But the reviews are what made me change my mind.

Sorry to drag you all back on topic but I recently ordered season one on Blu-Ray (I had to get it from New Zealand because here in the UK you have to have both seasons together and there's no way I'm sitting through season two :barf:) and it arrived today. Looking forward to giving the disks a spin later.

Season 2 had a few good eps.

I can honestly say that Downsizing was, without a doubt, the most BORING movie I have ever seen. And not just because of Matt Damon, either. For one thing, there were WAY too many Norwegian hippies...

I only saw it in the first place because much of it is set in my home city (Omaha, NE) but the real Omaha only appears for like ten seconds.

Crikey. So it's a fantasy version of Omaha? I think I dodged a bullet with this movie. The worst movies I have seen was Dungeons & Dragons and Eragon.

Only at the very beginning and the very end. It's a surprisingly symmetrical inverted bell curve.

Well the second season only had 13 episodes. The first few were very good and a few others after that. I figure it this way people still remember the show and buy the dvds. Yeah it’s mostly the generation that grew up with the show but it’s popularity even today is a testament to the quality of the show. It looked good, had some good episodes and was really fun to watch.

Well, no, not really, it's just that most of the scenes supposedly set here were filmed elsewhere, like Toronto. Very little of it was filmed on location.

And since Omaha is my home, I'm mildly upset about that.
My favorite occurrence of that was Jackie Chan's "Rumble in the Bronx", which was filmed in Canada. The view west would be mostly-flat NJ across the river, the view east would be mostly-flat Long Island across the sound. The waterfront scenes in the film had the Cascade Mountains in the background. :wtf:

Season 2 had a few good eps.
I liked the finale, which had a lot of scenes set in the 'present day' (possibly as a budget saver) and a '7 Days in May' type plot involving a renegade group of generals and such like wanting to attack the Soviet Union against the President's wishes. But the rest of the season was just too different to the first. I missed New Chicago and Dr. Theopolis and Dr. Huer, even good old Princess Ardala. Un yet somehow, I don't mind Galactica 1980, go figure. The one story they didn't do in Buck Rogers was a time travel story ala 'Tomorrow is Yesterday'. It would have been interesting. Obviously the 25th Century cast members would travel back with him.
