Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

As much as I like the idea that we might see a live-action version of the "Lower Decks" uniform, I can't see that happening. I think we might just have to accept that the uniform design for the animated series is deliberately designed to work for animation and to give the general "impression" of the TNG-era uniforms, without necessarily being intended to tie directly to any particular era of live-action trek.
They have said that Lower Decks is canon and takes place in 2380, so I'd say there is a decent chance we might see it on Picard in flashbacks. We have seen multiple uniforms at the same time, like with the when the DS9 and TNG uniforms overlapped, so I guess we could see different uniforms in Picard, but I'd rather just see them use the Lower Decks uniforms.
So Denise says there were talks to have Sela in Picard. As Empress?

Wow, I'm surprised she'd just say that like that.
Jesus Christ I regret clicking that.
Yeah, me to.:scream:

Hi Guys
Just finished DST Birmingham (which was great) and Patrick Stewart confirmed that the rest of the crew will be returning to Picard which is great news. In addition Denise Crosby confirmed at her panel that she is in talks with the Picard showrunners for Sela to return. DST official pages, Trek core and other outlets have also posted these news articles/confirmations.
Meaning the whole crew and it's already a done deal? For S2, I guess?

The top pic is pretty cool.

The bottom pic... it's not half-bad but it looks more like Starfleet-issued swimwear.

Starfleet-issued longjohns...

And trust me on this, do not do any image search for "black longjohns" (or for making it harder to find the exact model: "black red thermal underwear"), particularly with the brand name "Kamuon" included... So here's one link, it's even got the Command-Red piping as well and that's fit for Picard's rank for sure:

(Note: It's not quite NSFW, but more like WTHWTT?!)
Of course, everybody knows what I immediately did upon reading this...

:adore:

Though, I do have to admit THIS is not quite what I was expecting...

Denise Crosby's acting was total garbage, and I really hope they don't make the mistake of bringing her back.

Yeah, everyone had to deal with the shit scrips in Season 1, so I cut her some slack. But in Yesterday's Enterprise she was just...okay. She was massively, massively outshone by the guest romance of the week (whoever played Castillo). And she was dreadful in all of her five appearances after that. I have no idea why they kept bringing her back when she was so unimpressive in all of her appearences.

I honestly think - with maybe the exception of Anthony Montgomery on Enterprise - she might be the single worst regular actor on any Trek series. And that's saying a lot.

Tasha was important to Picard. Her loss stung him. The chance to make things right via Sela that did not work out stung him. Plus, she is Romulan and fits (I think) with the storyline.

Sarek is gone. Gates is battling the big C. Who knows what Whoopi is doing these days. And Data seems central in S1. Plus Riker & Troi seemed settled.

For S2 issues that resonate with JLP, Sela seems a good choice. You could invent something with Worf/La Forge, but fandom doesn't know about it.

Absent a McFadden/Goldberg return, I think Sela resonates the most with JLP. Though Crosby is not in the upper crust of Trek actors, I doubt she will be the one carrying the load/plot. She is not great in Yesterday's Enterprise or the Unification episodes, but those are still great/good episodes.

The clear answer IMHO is to bring back Michelle Forbes as Ro for the second season. She's an immensely more talented actress, and Ro had a personal connection with Picard as well.

You honestly don't think that could have changed in the last 30 years? :wtf:

Perhaps? But she's not someone who has had a very auspicious post-Trek career, with mostly one-off minor roles on television. Generally speaking the weaker Trek actors don't get much work after Star Trek, while the stronger ones have transitioned into being well-known beyond Trek.

She has a consistent career in TV in a wide variety of genres. She might not be well known but her experience has certainly increased. So, I'll be more comfortable with her as Sela now than before.

Denise is in Star Trek Online, voicing both Tasha (time travel) and Sela. But her voice acting, uh, isn't great.
A lot of the time she sounds like she's talking to children, with the way she inflects.

Sela is Empress in Star Trek Online. Well claims to be at least. She doesn't control much.

The voice acting in STO isn’t the best thing to compare with since it’s mostly subpar.
