My anticipation for Picard is the highest it's been for a Trek franchise outing since ST'09. Before that, it was for TUC in '91. And before that, it was for the premiere of TNG in September '87!

I am more eager for DSC, but PIC is growing on me. Mostly due to the Romulans, but Riker's house looks pretty cool.

Picard took me by surprise. Because I'm really not a 24th Century person, and no character symbolizes the 24th Century more than Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the Enterprise-D. I'm more interested than I thought I'd be. It's the idea of someone we associate with another time being in a galaxy turned upside down and taking matters into his own hands. That makes it more interesting to me because, for the first time, it looks like Picard's going against the grain. So, inherently, the premise has conflict built right into it.

I’m not in any way a fan of Romulans post-TOS. Sela and her moronically feckless TNG minions sealed it for me, but this iteration coming up in STP genuinely intrigues me. Looking forward to it.

There were some amazing Romulan-centric episodes of TNG (and a few Romulan-adjacent storylines in DS9 that were similarly great.)

Sela...was not in any of them.

Hate is too strong a word. It's just what has been done in the first two seasons, does not make me very excited for Season 3. And for better or worse, Discovery is no longer the only Trek in town.

Speaking of other Star Trek shows, I was a bit surprised to see that the Nickelodeon show wouldn't be ready to air in 2021. I know it takes a long time for animation in most cases, but I figured they usually wait to tell us about it until it's closer to being ready.

If it's still 3 years away at this point, good grief.

Can we please vote for PIC over STP?

If you start every abbreviation with ST it's going to be confusing and we'll run out of letters before CBS runs out of new shows.

I'm going with PIC no matter what anyone else says. But using "STP" doesn't look bad to me like "STD" does.

I don't think CBS has given an official abbreviation for Picard yet.

I've only ever seen them refer to it as Picard.

Maybe it won't have one just to throw us all off again, like with DSC and VGR.

From Io9's breakdown, they seemed to think that some of the scenes we see with Dahj are when she's been held by the Romulans, and it looked like the scene with her and Narek was in the same place as those scenes, so I'm starting to think he might be a bad guy.
Oh, I knew what you meant, I was just wondering if you were talking about The Return and it's sequels, where he is brought back to life by the Romulans and Borg after dying, or if there if there was a different series I'm not aware of?
I had the same thought, I was really hoping we might get some kind of a teaser, or at least a bit more information.
Out of all of the movies and TV shows coming out in the next year or two I'm most excited for Picard and The Rise of Skywalker. I'm also more excited for Lower Decks than I am for Discovery Season 3,but not because of the quality of Disco, just because it is something so new, and different.

Yeah, I've been wondering about Narek - he's a Romulan agent, said to be steeped in secrecy and manipulation, the trailer implies he's pursuing an agenda to learn more about Dahj that may or may not be aligned with Picard's more specific mission. So I have wondered if he might be some kind of undercover spy or double agent. But then again, at NYCC the actor said, “I play a Romulan agent who is involved in trying to uncover some truths, which he needs to get to the bottom of to save a lot of people.” And he is a regular cast member - although there's room for a fair bit of manoeuvre within that.

Seems safe to say that there is likely to be a bit more tension among this crew than we saw on the Enterprise!

If Discovery proved anything, is that people use what they want and no vote will ever settle it. At least I stopped using STD for Discovery ;)
And while STP or PIC are both acceptable, I just find it easier to write out the whole name to avoid any confusion. So I use Discovery and Picard.
It's time to stop using short hand people, don't be lazy, write out the whole thing ;)

I use Disco sometimes for Discovery since that's what they have on their shirts in the show.

I use DISCO, so I'm gonna use PICO for Picard. ;)
