New Picard Trailer

I wonder why They are showing Dahj burning in the sun?
Phaser blast ?
Transporter accident ??
Vampire ???

Definitely vampire.
Hey you can't have that TOS Romulan ship! This is 2019 and audiences won't accept dated designs made in the 60's!!!!! :brickwall:

/Sarcasm. It looks freaking awesome! I wish Discovery took that approach to their 23rd century ships.
It's a nice update/descendant of the old design.

Because the big green pointed beak warbirds from TNG always looked kinda dumb. But there must be another reason that a 100 year old design is still in use (unless Romulan BOPs are just as sturdy as Miranda class starships).

I like the TNG era Warbirds, but I think that these neo-Romulan Imperialists are using any ships they can get their hands on and upgrading them with Borg tech, I imagine their fleet will several different ship types in them.

Other random trailer observations/speculations:

0:50 - There's what appears to be vacuum-seal cork on the table next to the wine bottle. Otherwise, Picard powered through 2/3 of a bottle on his own!

0:53 - Did Starfleet Headquarters move across the bay to the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge? That looks to be facing north.

1:04 - Picard is walking with one of the androids similar to F8.

1:13 - Escalators still exist in the late 24th century!

1:52 - Green nacelles on the Romulan BOP (Borg tech enhanced?)

2:04 - 7 seems to be shooting up a bar (drinks behind her and tables to the right).

2:18 - Riker and Troi's house is probably in Alaska?

Darn. I fear this is the "uniform" scene Patrick Stewart referred to in the interview. Was hoping for an actual flashback to post-NEM, hopefully during the rescue armada situation.

There's a Short Trek coming that is going to deal with that event.

It still might. Data's painting appeared to be someone standing on a shoreline, helpless to rescue people in a small boat during a storm. It might be symbolic of that failed rescue mission, and then transition to that kind of a flashback you're referring to.

That actually makes a lot of sense, given the dialog.

DATA: Would you like to finish it, sir?

PICARD: I don't know how...

I think it's a painting of Dahj.

Curious why the old Romulan Bird of Prey design from TOS has suddenly come back, too.

My first thought was museum pieces, like BattleStar Gallatica was in its show (or about to be). When your planet explodes, you kinda have to take whatever relics you still have around.

So that's whatever outer system junk yard, military collector and used-WarBird dealership the surviving Romulans still had. The survivors wouldn't have much choice in what was left.

I think its a commentary as well as how much the Romulan Star Empire has regressed.

And it would probably be a simpler matter to steal one of those rather than a massive Warbird.
