"Final episodes". That seems very, well, final, considering this is just the very beginning of season 2. There's still a lot to go, the series is only at it's halfway point right now.

Looking forward to debating when the show passes the timeframe of the end of TLJ. Though they might make it obvious for us with the request for help broadcast from Crait. (If so, we'll probably get something along the lines of "we can't reply, or we'll give away our position".)

Well, it is confirmed that season 2 will be the final season.

Do we know how many episodes are in season 2? Its possible it won't be a full 22, perhaps 16, 13 or even 6.

I admittedly haven't watched season one yet (I'm hopeful it'll be on Disney+), but doesn't it lead directly into the end of TFA/beginning of TLJ? With how condensed a timeline we have during TFA/TLJ, I really do wonder how far they're going to go past the end of TLJ with Resistance. But @Tuskin38 's spoiler leads me to believe that this event happens pretty early on in the season.

Yeah Season One ends shortly after Hosnian Prime is destroyed.

I suspect the idea is for the finale to somehow synch up to TRoS when it's in theatres (kinda what AoS & Winter Soldier pulled off), so they're probably looking to put the whole season out before the end of the year, no mid season hiatus as is usually the case. Hence the finality.

Still seems odd that they designed this to be just two and done. the only thing that makes sense is that they have another animation project on the horizon but for whatever reason it can't come out before the ST is done, so this was mostly to fill the gap between 'Rebels' and whatever's next.

The timeline for the ST is basically one year plus a few weeks or months. Not much time for a long series within it.

They could be setup for post trilogy, or after they get the whole trilogy out they can start to fill in the massive three decade gap between the OT and ST. Thus joining the gap filling of Rebels, Solo, and somewhat Rogue One.

If they wanted the show to last longer without being limited by the release of the ST, then they could easily have set it at least a few years prior to TFA. IIRC everything with Ben turning and the First Order popping up started about 5 yeas back. Plenty of time to have a show explore that era of transition for a good 4-5 seasons, easy.

That they chose instead to set it right around the ST to me seems like a deliberate choice to make it a very short series. And if that is indeed the case, it probably means they'd already had something in the works.

For those that haven't seen the S2 trailer yet:

S1 starts out with a lot of silliness but the latter half of it is better. Maybe the Lucasfilm Story Group have Resistance S2 tie-in with events leading into The Rise of Skywalker. We saw Easter eggs connect Rebels to Rogue One but not substantially.

Does that poster flavaflav posted look like they might be setting up a starfighter showdown finale between Tam and Kaz? That I'd want to see.

I'll admit, I never actually thought of them that way, but okay. I accept this as canon.

Wasn't this confirmed in the show, at least implicitly? I mean just look at them! I've been running on this assumption every since they both went to visit Flix's mother.

Still it's nice that those slow on the uptake have been clued in. ;)

Yeah, in hindsight a lot of things pop up that basically confirm it. I don't know, I guess I just zoned out while watching the show last year.

Yeah, I've been under the same impression, it seemed to be what they intended with the characters from the start.

I found them annoying so I pretty much tuned them out so I missed them even being in a relationship together,

I really wish the writers would have given the Kaz goofiness a break this season. Otherwise, the episode was ok. Hopefully things get going a bit more next week.

Although I'm usually ambivalent towards the goofiness displayed in this series, I will admit, the zero G bar scene really did give me a good laugh, particularly when we see the drinks float out of the cups.
