oh and also did hours of video broadcasting onto youtube here.. IF it is done processing :)
not finished processing but some of it is so once finished the video is like 10 hrs long big experience made music in it during it too.

Anyone here watching "The Orville"? My little Ed was bored so I made him the Bolodon disks game. I hope he teaches me the rules so we can play together! Made with Shrinky Dink, a plastic straw and some small beads.

I started with constructing the layout.

My desk didn't look that tidy for long!

The foil is Shrinky Dink, a foil you can draw on and then bake it in the oven. It will well up a bit and then shrink. For some odd reason not all became flat afterwards, some stayed welled-up.

For some reason it also was not as round afterwards. More like oval.

For the base I used a plastic straw from one of those drinking packs.

I cut holes into the sides. At first I only wanted to do a slit but the Shrinky Dink pieces were so thick, I actually had to cut out a bit. Some more micro-plastic flying around, sorry Mother Earth!
I was wondering what I could use as the foot of the base. Then I remembered this grey thing that I had in my collection since my childhood. Honestly. I have no idea what this originally was but I never threw it away, thinking I can use it one day. In the screenshot you can see that the base should be square not round but otherwise it was perfect so I didn't care.

And the result! I used some small beads from a box that my mother used to play with as a kid and that is now in my stash.

And this is the original (screenshot)

Huh? Where did you hear that?

In the show, they move the top disk of the controler by Ed's hands around and push buttons, and then the disks of the game spin around. Somehow, when several are exactly above each other, they disappear *poof* The whole thing is not real, more like a hologram? I have no idea what the colorful buttons on top of the disks do though.

I assume that if you are here on this Star Trek board that you are a Star Trek fan? In that case, you MUST watch The Orville. Seriously. Start watching now. It's wonderful. Just give it a few episodes, the pilot has a bit too much humor but after that it gets better and better. Plus a lot of former Star Trek people work behind the scenes.

I love being at the start of a new fandom for once instead of trying to catch up with 50+ years. I hope this will go on for a long time. They're only starting. Only 26 episodes so far so you should be able to do it. The seasons are short ones.

OH my you mean get a tv or ... find a link on the computer... or what I have been.. since 2004 essentially cable free. I guess that is what happens when you are plugged into tv at a young age.. ---

OH ok what is the link to there things netflix I hope.. or some channel .for my iPad to pick up. ? hey I will look that is seeming like neatness and all. OK
    BRB
FOX omg they have the fox news nonsense propaganda team? I guess .. you never know..
I feel so Old people have no prejudice against this stuff.. I was just thinking how older people would have prejudices with things cause it is ... just like that.. and now I just put down a brony pony nonsense and then errr now FOX ,,,, OK I give up it is all good ... the brony the painted pony nonsense.. and FOX propaganda maybe they stopped doing that cuase it was wrong.. IDK.. going to watch .. I Think with fox i have to start at season 2.. maybe.? there was no pilot option. mmmm OK

so I designed a surface to make music with.. programmed it in all the sound snips to loop at when parts of the iPad are touched.. this is one of the early results ... playing

that's too bad for me = I deleted the cable channels like 2000 of them from my iPad due to them being nonsense yeah with the deleted opportunity to watch GOT or any media LOL -- ... the fox networks wants me to order cable again.. and feed into capitalism paying them to watch commercials that pay them to have me watch what the fuck.. so.. I guess I will go on with out knowing The Orville = sad the capitalist machine is like that. :( i will try to watch it when I talk to a friend who gives me cable tv on the ipad from their tv .. and get the password to that app again. :) they don't have and iPad or need that app..

I am going to rot my mind out with video games .. that keep me aware and on top of what I am doing to an extent that playing video games involves being reactive and alert so on. my gamer-friends mmmmm don't usually do forums so yeah I guess it is the typing thing associated with school IDK .. but we group chat party with discord and play/interact in game.

@Astra try squeezing the non-flat ones between 2 sheets of baking paper and then iron them. Try a cool temperature first and then slowly go higher until you've found the perfect one. You want them warm enough to bend but not so hot that they melt. Once they are warm enough, leave them to cool under something flat like a thin book. Choose something not too heavy, else it might squeeze them too thin.
An alternative for the "dice" might be a plastic spool for sewing machines. Here is a decent photo. You get them at every haberdashery and at many department stores.

Hmm, technical explanations are easier in our native tongue:

Thank you! Too late now since I already glued everything together but I'll try next time. I had tried to put it into hot water since that is as I usually do everything but I only managed to wash the color off as it had not been water proof... Oops!

Some did stay really crumbled though, no amount of ironing could save them. Very odd.
Those disks you linked look nice but they also need a connection to the base, not sure how I would that add then. They're also a bit bigger in diameter than what I did but I'll keep it in mind for a possible other craft project. I'm not a sewer so these are definitely new to me. Usually I look for bits and pieces in the hardware store, amazing what you can find there.

LOL indeed. I often get inspiration for crafts and nedlework projects there. For example, oil retainer rings or washers are perfect innards for handmade buttons like these. But particularly for very fine and small work there are interesting instruments available in needlework shops, haberdasheries and cosmetic shops. A 0.5 mm crotcheting needle makes a great harpoon for a lego fisherman and a common nail file is unbeatable when sanding off sharp edges on glass :D

I should write things down. Even if they don't make sense..

This shell of life needs to be pealed away like a layer of skin off an onion.
True value has no substance to it because its quality is empty.
We manifest what we like but I don't like anything so nothing becomes a manifestation of that.
The mind once open is never shut again.
Limits and memories are ideas of illusion.
Beingness is as real as one imagines.
I have always been a spatula... What do you mean by that? IDK
OPEN THE NEW BOXES OF LIFE...or not...
    Okay sounds good

I'd rather think the mind is like a snail. It comes out of its shell, gets scared, retracts, gains a little courage, comes out etc. And if it's really lucky it finds a juicy lettuce leaf :D
