Episode IX Speculation and Discussion

The way I see it, they are just trying to justify the negative perception. Films go through reshoots for a variety of reasons. Still, I thought I'd share it.

Meh, I'm not going to believe it until I see more legitimate evidence.

Wow, it never occurred to me until seeing this post that Owen recognized R2 when he bought him and C-3P0.

Owen never saw R2 in the prequel trilogy. He stayed on the ship and later lurked in the background for all of ten seconds.

And neither Owen nor Beru spent any time with 3PO. After he was bought, Owen told Luke to clean up the droids, 3PO got cleaned up, stayed in the garage and they left early the next morning.

Sorry I clicked on that dumb article, but this is literally a sentence. "Reshoots are very common, but in this case, they're reshooting actual scenes." (Emphasis mine)

Yeah, no shit. What do you think reshoots are??? They reshoot fucking scenes.

As for "justifying negativity", some guy put out a youtube video recently arguing that Mark Hamill's tweet about liking blue milk just HAD to be a lie, because, you know, Disney is evil or something.

These people will literally believe anything to support their garbage worldview.

Yeah, I clicked too. It was stupid. No actual evidence for anything nefarious. Just reckless speculation to support the negativity towards Disney.

Just hate the movie or the company. Stop making up reasons to be mad at them.

OK I forgot about R2 not interacting with Owen in the prequels, but wasn't he with Luke when he bought the droids in A New Hope?

People are ridiculous. He liked the blue milk at Galaxy's Edge, but he said the stuff in he drank in A New Hope was absolutely disgusting. I believe the stuff at Galaxy's Edge is either just flavored milk, or some kind of fruit smoothy. It's one of the big beverages at the restaurant, so they're going to do everything they possibly can to make it as good as possible.

Yes, Owen buys R2, but his interaction with him is fleeting. But that wasn't the point, someone else was pointing out that Owen and Beru probably could have/would have remembered 3PO (who they lived with for years) and R2. However, if you look at the movies carefully, neither Owen or Beru in AOTC "meet" R2 and Owen's interaction with C3PO in ANH is brief enough that you can fudge it without it breaking continuity.

Yeah. i didn't watch the actual video except for a few seconds, but he was literally looking for hidden meaning/subtext in Mark Hamill's tweet to "prove" he didn't actually like the beverage because otherwise it didn't fit with his agenda/narrative that everything SW disney is terrible. Holy shit, dude, get a fucking life!

And, yes, (speaking from experience) Galaxy's Edge's Blue milk is indeed a delicious, non-dairy fruity beverage that also happens to be a big hit at the park.

Owen clearly doesn't give two rats about droids apart from them being his property. I can totally believe him owning one he had seen before without realizing it, especially as the casing had been replaced. How many people would recognize their old computer if it was formatted and then put in a new case?

According to Daisy Ridley in a recent interview
The title of the movie is only explained in the last few lines of the film

Not sure if it was announced already, but Episode IX will be released 12-20 according to the artwork being used for that merchandising thing going on right now.

We've know that since the first trailer was released.
I thought the trailer simply said December. I don't recollect an exact date. I'll have to rewatch.

Because of the number of blockbusters and tentpoles released these days and trying to maximize the box office, release dates are set years in advance. We've actually known since JJ Abrams was announced to replace Colin Trevvorow back in September 2017.

The Sequel Trilogy has disappointed me as far as release dates... my birthday is Dec. 14, and they always manage to release the week AFTER my birthday, so spoiling a movie birthday party. This year, we will have the Jumanji sequel...and if they did as well as the last movie (which I was surprised how much I liked it), that will be OK...but Star Wars would have been much much better
