And even if you discount Yoda's little outfit, look at what Anakin is wearing in the final scene of ROTJ.

Yoda's outfit isn't remotely distinctive or "Jedi"-like. He's just wearing a tattered burlap coat. Sure, the colors are vaguely reminiscent of what we think of as the Jedi look, but whether it was intentional or not doesn't really matter, since it doesn't truly connect visually to Obi Wan's outfit to form a consistent look. At the time of ESB, those were the only two Jedi we'd ever seen, so it's a stretch to say they were really "dressed alike."

I'll totally agree on the Anakin ROTJ thing, though.

But all that comes AFTER ANH. Clearly, in ANH, it was just a "desert" look. Later, Lucas changed his mind (ROTJ, maybe ESB, DEFINITELY the PT.)

Lucas is notorious for changing his mind, as we all know. But the original intent of Obi Wan's look was not "Hey, this is a standard, identifiable Jedi uniform."

Everyone always jokes about why Luke is "hidden" on Tatooine with his real name and how Obi Wan also uses his real last name, too, despite also being in "hiding."

Would be all kinds of extra stupid if he wore distinctive, signature Jedi garb while trying to lay low.

I would point out that Qui-gon was wearing basically the same thing as Obi-wan and other Jedi, but was only noted as a Jedi by Anakin because he spotted the lightsaber.

Qui-Gon was wearing a parka or something when Anakin first met him, it was covering his normal clothes. So the lightsaber was the only real indication

It's time for the full trailer in my opinion. Let's face it, it's not that long til it's released is it? I'm ready for to the first full trailer, there's just the right enough amount of time left to squeeze a second trailer between now and then.

The Trade Federation is expecting some officials from the Republic since its an diplomatic ship that arrived. Since the two guys that came out were in robes and not fancy dress of a politician, the main representative it could be would be a Jedi, who wear simple robes. Very plain. Like monks.

Coruscant is likely the one planet in the Galaxy were the humble robes of a Jedi would stand out only because they would look cleaner than any of the drifters in the lower levels, and there would be less other monk types around the capital city planet of the Republic other than Jedi. That and its the center of Jedi business, with their main temple...so there are thousands of Jedi coming and going from that planet a year. Most other planets in the Republic or outside the Republic? Most people will never have seen a Jedi. Few Jedi will visit a planet for a few days, then leave....with most people being unaware they were even there. Even those that see them wouldn't know they are Jedi unless they happen to draw their lightsabers. That is unless its during the Clone Wars and they happen to be wearing partial armor with their robes with Jedi and Republic iconography on them. Usually with Clone Troopers around the place. Than they kind of stand out since the people that aren't clones but on the front lines are probably Jedi.

What traits would the Jedi share that a droid would identify by looks?

But it isn't the Trade Federation leaders that come to the Jedi conclusion. The droid does. In the novel TC-14 speculates that one is a Jedi Master. Apparently there are visual clues that the droid is picking up on that indicate such things.

That was definitely the "official" explanation, but it's retcon silliness. And, as fireproof points out, the outfit was so distinctively associated with the Jedi that they were subsequently identified as such by outfit alone.

Rewatching ANH yesterday, it occurred to me that Beru and Owen were likely tortured and died refusing to answer any questions...because they know who Luke is, and know he’s gone off with Obi Wan, and likely even recognise Artoo....it’s possible Owen got back from his Jawa shopping trip and suddenly went ‘hmm..protocol droid..I mean he’s all gold now..it can’t be....but once he saw Artoo (having first picked Red and not paid attention to the replacement) next to him had a serious ‘oh fuck’ moment.
Once Luke is talking about Ben Kenobi, he knows things are gonna get hairy.

Maybe they even self destructed the house themselves.

Meh, I'm not going to believe it until I see more legitimate evidence.

Rewatching ANH yesterday, it occurred to me that Beru and Owen were likely tortured and died refusing to answer any questions...because they know who Luke is, and know he’s gone off with Obi Wan, and likely even recognise Artoo....it’s possible Owen got back from his Jawa shopping trip and suddenly went ‘hmm..protocol droid..I mean he’s all gold now..it can’t be....but once he saw Artoo (having first picked Red and not paid attention to the replacement) next to him had a serious ‘oh fuck’ moment.
Once Luke is talking about Ben Kenobi, he knows things are gonna get hairy.

Maybe they even self destructed the house themselves.

Wow, it never occurred to me until seeing this post that Owen recognized R2 when he bought him and C-3P0.

It literally crossed my mind yesterday when watching ANH with family, and fielding questions and chatting.
Watching Obi Wan bend the truth was pretty eye opening too...I don’t think R2 actually had the memory dump. And it’s tragic for threepio, he’s literally returning home and doesn’t know it...but Owen and Beru know it.

Yay! “The Sky is Falling” journalism. Some reporter I’ve never heard of before talking IN A TWEET, not his own article about how “someone” told him that things “didn’t look good.” Not saying there might not be issues but I prefer to just wait and see.
