Is there any upscale g done? I quite like season 25 and 26.
The BR versions quality wise are just the same as the dvd version, the br is just being used as a larger storage medium, but any upscaling that you might encounter will no doubt come from whatever device you watch them on, or if your tv upscales....apart from Spearhead from space which was shot completely on film so the 1080p transfer of that is fantastic.....just think of these br releases as buying entire seasons of restoration dvds on one cheaper bulk package, that is a win right there.
Ah well. No point possibly then for me. I have most of my favourites on DVD. Maybe if they had sorted out the ahem light issue on Ghost Light and actually done a better job with the new cg effects on Battlefield I could be tempted.
^^^^Some reviews has said there is some form of upscaling going on, but reviews are mixed, some say there is upscaling, some say there is none, some say it is ok, some say they hate it, but it might be a case of the individual hardware at work on these BR's, but for me i have all the restoration DVDs so these are not really offering much, but for those that waited, £40 for a entire season is a steal considering each of the R-DVD were coming in at about £15 at their time of launch.
Having bought all the classic blu ray sets released so far in the US, I'd disagree the idea that the image on blu ray is the same as the DVDs. I went in expecting that, but I find the blu rays to be both sharper and have better color. There's a noticeable improvement on the blu rays. Additionally, some stories have outdoor broadcast footage shot on film that is better than SD, which comes through on the blu ray. I also like the additional special features.
Originally, I was not going to buy the blu ray sets because I have all the DVDs. But, now I look forward to them!
Just found this on Amazon US. Colin Baker's complete second season currently has a release date of December 3, 2019.

I love Ace. She's my favorite classic companion who is not named Sarah Jane. The whole "A Charitable Earth" thing came from Sarah Jane Adventures, correct?

It did, back when Tennant or Smith visited. SJS updated us on all of the human companions from the present day. Dorothy runs A Charitable Earth, Ian and Barbara have not aged a day, Tegan works for aboriginal rights, Harry Sullivan is working on curing diseases and Ben and Polly run an orphanage.

Holy socksblownoff, that's the best teaser yet. And I didn't expect it to be even close... It actually feels like it has a soul instead of just pretending the way most modern shows can't mimick. And late-80s WHO I didn't always care for, but enough was great... and then it ended. Again. In other words, that's saying something.

The JNT doco looks appealing as well. Hope it doesn't venture too much into that one book written about him, which tries to be even keel, even for the most allegedly sordid stuff. It wasn't an easy read as I still can't believe a lot of that is true...
Was hoping the extended Ghost Light wouldn't be just a workprint with time index blotted out - but it was said the BBC had a ton of footage wiped shortly after the episodes were broadcast. Deja WHO, anyone? (ugh, that was bad on multiple levels!! You're welcome.

But there's clearly a ton of goodies and extended stories. As much as can be. And thankfully not all stories had the extra material quickly wiped just so the tapes could be reused.
She and McCoy had great acting chemistry together. JNT had great insight to actors who could do something with the role (yes, I'm a staunch supporter of Colin Baker's casting and freshness he brought to the role, as well as Davison before him) and while some scripts were pushing boundaries*, there were generally more scenes of Aldred and McCoy making much work than not.
* Okay, I'll go there: Ace's worst scene is when she's trying to seduce a soldier, and seduction is a thing companions hadn't really done since. Not as a ploy to distract so the Doctor can infiltrate the baddie's lair. That's pretty big and bold - even if it felt out of place back then and still does now, it's also an example of how the New Adventure novels embraced a one-off scene and did much more with it. For better or for worse. Again with the punting...

One of the sad things about Lis Sladen's untimely death was that we never got to see Ace on the SJA. According to a Sophie Aldred interview in DWM it was being discussed after Jo Grant was brought back for those two episodes.
I'm sure Big Finish will pick up on it at some point.
Really couldn't see why Jo didn't get to take over the SJA show after a decent interval. It wouldn't have taken a big 'tweak' to include her and her grandson.
Ace could have looked out the window to see 11 riding the motorcycle up the Shard, if that's where she is.
That's not really relevant to me.
She made a small mistake in the video, she said it had been 30 years ago, but that can't be right because that would mean age wise that i would now be in my 5..........oh dear. lol
