Though there are people hired for the park who are playing characters from the movies. People have talked about having in-character conversations with a Rey look-alike who's wandering around, for instance. She's a new character who's only appeared in the books, so it would be an actress hired just for the park, not someone from the movies or shows.
They have lookalikes for photos and such things. I just did Vader and Chewie when I was thereThough there are people hired for the park who are playing characters from the movies. People have talked about having in-character conversations with a Rey look-alike who's wandering around, for instance.
I've seen a couple references now to Vi Moradi being at Galaxy's Edge, so does that mean there's actually a live actress playing Vi wandering around the park? Or is she just part of the app or something like that?

Cool, I haven't read any of the stories with her yet, but in general I love it when they work characters from the books and comics into this kind of stuff.Vi Moradi is definitely there. My friend and I spent a good half hour with her. Our Vi was pretty relaxed and very funny and charming. We had a great time with her.
I've seen videos and heard accounts of her "sneaking" through the land, getting arrested by stormtroopers, etc., but we didn't see that.
Additionally, they had an amazing-looking scene/stunt show with Vi Moradi during Disneyland's GE preview nights, but haven't had it since! They REALLY need to get that out there, since it looked amazing.
I didn't realize they actually had people there as the movie characters.Yeah, there's a Rey, who we also met, plus Chewie, stormtroopers, Kylo Ren and a First Order lieutenant.
They probably will over time. I would be surprised if we start to see some changes next year, once Rise of Skywalker is out. Here's hoping that they'll unleash more Vi Moradi stuff and add more characters, droids and scenes to the land. The characters they have now are great, but they need more and to sprinkle in some aliens to really make it all come alive.

Keep your Doctor Who nonsense aliens out of this! Its a shame they don’t allow dress up at the park. I would go as a Klingon.![]()
Wookiepdia says she was created by Deliah S. Dawson for Phasma first.Actually, Vi Moradi was created specifically for the park, with the ancillary material to support it.
Oh, I understand that, I just wasn't sure if they would have characters like that around since technically they probably wouldn't be wandering around on Batuu. But I also understand that this is a theme park, and there are times where you pretty much have to just have to break the illusion for some stuff.Well, yeah, that's kinda the point. The "you are there" approach. You're supposed to be smack dab in the middle of the events.
They seem to have gotten things off to a pretty good start, so I look forward to seeing what they add over time. There was a lot more planned and I really hope we see it soon. Including an alien bounty hunter, which sounds awesome.
Fingers cross they open up their wallets a little bit to make the land be as good as it can be.

I wonder if they used the actress from the park for the Black Spire cover art, because I just did an image search on Yahoo, and the actress in the pictures I found looks a lot like the character on the cover art.

One other advantage I thought of for creating a completely original planet for Galaxy's Edge, it'll give them the opportunity to change eras if one of the new movies is in a different era and the want to tie in. If they recreated specific stuff from the movies they'd pretty much be stuck with that without doing a total remodel, but with the way they did it here, all they'd need to do is make a few cosmetic changes and change the characters.
Oh, you mean they are creating an experience were people get to participate in the active part of the story, rather than just reliving nostalgic moments?Yeah, Galaxy's Edge actually exists in the lore, the events there take place between TLJ and TROS.
And can redesign in 3..2..1..Just a little FYI warning for anyone else who plans to visit Galaxy's Edge, the TSA has said that they will not allow the thermal detonator Coke/Sprite bottles on planes at all, they cannot be in checked or carry on luggage. According to the article on EW, they fall under the category of inert or replica explosives, which are forbidden.

Fairly silly and easy to circumvent (assuming TSA would even catch it.)
Just remove the bottle cap and store it separately. Individually, those pieces don't look like anything.
It doesn't matter if the bottles have a regular cap; they're still banned... and trying to pack them will get you detained and law enforcement called on you.
