Marvel films, it's time for a Black female lead

when they try to put as many races and genders in a story.. especially a fictional one, not for stopry reasons, but just for the sake of seeming inclusive.. as if to earn points with the bigwig trades and shareholders.. and it has little to do with a creative decision

Interesting, so how many minorities or women can be in a movie before you declare that forced diversity is at play here?

Ok, if a lead character is a general, how do you make that character Asian or African American using "story reasons" if their race matters not at all to the story? How do you make a Carol Danvers Captain Marvel movie without making her a woman, or does that not count as "story reasons"?

What kind of story reasons are we talking about here? What would be an example of a good story reason?
The problem with that kind of attitude is a lot of the time those "story reasons" end up being stereotypes.
More often that not those "story reasons" are the reason we get black and hispanic people playing nothing but gang bangers and drug dealers, middle eastern people being nothing but terrorists, and asian people playing nothing but nerds or martial artists.

Except that you're just looking at projects with diverse casts and deciding for yourself that it's "to earn points with the bigwig trades [sic] and shareholders" - you don't know that, you choose to think it.

IOW, you have a bias against diverse casting. It's clear in everything you've posted here, and you bring it to your evaluations of every new project announcement and film released.

Which is a shame because they're never going back to doing it the way you've made clear that you'd prefer.

sure CM is a woman. But it seems that for some reason they are flooding us with woman lead superhero films, only because they had 20 films with white male heroes .. and it feels like that is the reason. Also I honestly don't care what someone's sexuality is when I watch fantasies

Yes, they are giving us female lead superhero movies because we've been getting mostly male lead ones.
And yes we got Black Panther because we've gotten mostly ones lead by white guys.
Why should it matter why the movie was made as long as it's a good movie?

IT'S ONE THING TO DEBATE.. ANOTHER THING TO TELL ME WHAT i DO MIND AND DON'T MIND
Someone has to tell you, Cap, because you don't seem to have the first clue what's on your own mind. You just keep spouting words without the realization that they have meaning, and then get upset when people take that meaning at face value and respond to it.

You should probably just quit while you're behind at this point because further attempts to explain yourself just keep digging you deeper and deeper into the hole. You are either profoundly ignorant of what you are saying or in such a state of denial about your personal bias and bigotry that you can't bring yourself to acknowledge it in any way, or more likely a little from Column A and a little from Column B.

But for the love of god, dude, just nuke your part in this argument from orbit and move on. It's the only way to be sure. You're not giving yourself a good look here.

I have this memory of Red Tornado (a robot who was originally pretending to be white) passing as an African America, and google is no help. Did that happen?

It doesn’t exist, even your description is entirely dependent on your attaching a motive to a casting decision. But only one seem to be able to see this happening. We aren’t failing to understand you, this is just a problem that only exists in your head and we can’t get in there.

I thought you might be referring to post Infinite Crisis but I looked it up and no.

Thank you.

I think I knew that Karma from the New Mutants was gay, Although I wonder if spending a year inside the Shadow King (way back, in the 80s), helped her discover her homosexuality. Due to the nature of how her powers work, she can temporarily be a man whenever she wants, I would have imagined that thematically the character should be bisexual, and technically isn't she, since Xi'an can be a woman who sleeps with women and a man who sleeps with women?

Let's see, in this decade we've had Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel, let's count Alita, as well, and maybe Ghost in the Shell, but that's really stretching it. On the other hand, just this year we've had SHAZAM! and Spider-Man.

Sorry to double post, but I just noticed another thing; "just because they had 20 films with white male heroes", as if that wasn't enough reason to change it up a little, is not the only reason. WB had been trying to make a Wonder Woman movie since the 90s, and when that became a cultural phenomenon, Marvel too saw the potential for female-led movies. But that happened after Ike Perlmutter was cut out of the decision making process. If you really want to see some film making decisions based on personal politics, look into Ike Perlmutter.

Michelle Borth from Hawaii 5-0 as (adult) Mary Marvel.

Although that's not her name.

Mary wouldn't use her own name as her Superhero name, and if Billy isn't Captain Marvel, why would she be "anything" Marvel?

What was the creative decision for an all white Friends cast in diverse New York City? A popular T.V show set between 1994 - 2004 NOT 1954 - 1964.

Were you complaining about all those all white male movies or accepting them as normal?
You do realise Star Trek only got Sulu and Uhura cos the bigwigs told GR to diversify the cast since nonwhite Americans are also consumers, the pilot was All White. A good thing GR did not have your racially restricted attiude.
I am fed up with white people like you revelling in your white privilege for decades and whining when a fraction of it is challenged in any way in the media, the fact you don't even see having so many white male heroes dominating the entertainment landscape as an issue makes you racially blind and deaf.
I hope you are not in a position of power to employ people, grant credit or teach anyone who is not a white male. You reek of conscious racial bias.
